The appeal of this place seems completely overblown to me. I admit, I've never been, though, and don't doubt it's a really good restaurant.
It is. It's a good restaurant, but every other good restaurant in the bay area now practices what made CP notable in the first place: sustainable farming, farm to table, etc. I lived in the bay area for about ten years and went there a few times. I never saw much reason to go back.

No but I think a lot of people I know are. Not sure if that's where it originated from or not. I'm just disappointed no one agreed with me about Sharkey's Reef.

Wow.......Balls.........you have been around Doe's a lot. Did you eat when you were there. If so you probably hate steak now. Who was the guy that used to take gambling bets there. It's definitely one of the best I know about. I went to the one in Paducah once but I have not been to any of the others. I did go to the one in Oxford, MS a few times but I did not like it. I like to sit in the back room and watch folks when their chair gets caught in a crack in the holes in the floor. They finally put a new sink in the men's room. The old one leaked so long it wore the enamel off the sink.

Have you been to the one in BR.

Yeah, I think that whole schtick was a really neat and noble ideal, and I like what it's produced on our restaurant scene nationwide.

I just don't find it so incredibly novel or mindblowing (and really think it was probably inevitable and that there are plenty other folks who could probably take some credit for it) so as to continue to proclaim that place as being one of the top 5 restaurants in the country from now until the end of time.

I knew some old timers that were commercial fishermen and made whiskey. Ever heard of Perry Martin. Rosedale is famous for bootleggers and commercial fishermen. I grew up with a friend that had 5 brothers and 3 sisters. They were all born on a camp boat in the MS River. His dad made whiskey, trapped, caught logs and fished for a living.

Man...do you actually know anything about food or do you just like to brag about all the regulars and employees that you've met in these places?

You also seem to be obsessed with the layout of restaurants

I don't know about the rest of you folks, but I'm not obsessing over how many tables are on some wall in some particular room of a restaurant.

You sound like some insecure old dude with OCD. You don't have to impress anyone here. Just relax. Maybe take some notes from Colpapabooze...he has been around a bit and doesn't come off like a fricking 3 year old like you do.

Best hot tamales I've ever had can be found in Zwolle, LA. Right smack in the middle of my drive from the deer camp to the fishing camp. E.B.'s on North Main.

I am relaxed Powerman. You seem to be the one that's not relaxed. This thread got started with the Littleman style post. Rohan asked about the tables so I returned the favor. Aren't you supposed to take up for yourself when you are right. You seem to do a pretty good job of it.

They are. Try to make it to the Zwolle Tamale Festival one of these years. It's in the fall. Sample the finest hot tamales this side of Juarez.

Also, the Mansfield Blueberry Festival is a rompin' good time.
