Yes, but that is only in Missouri, right now they are talking of 200,000 plus acres flooding in the MS delta, and that's if the levee doesn't break. If the levee breaks anywhere in ms, ark, or la, then God help us. That would be a lot of farmland.
The flood waters in Ms due the shutting the gates on rivers are supposed to be here until mid June, which is too late to replant anything.

Well when we had all that late season rain 2 years ago around here that ruined many crops, our catfish feed prices skyrocketed from around 250 dollars/ton to 400 $/ton the next year.

Not sure where this unofficial 49.5 feet is coming from. I am not saying they will not adjust the forecast again but all I see/heard from the office/web is crest of 47.5 on 5/21.
With that said levees are designed to protect BR to 50 feet. Now when was the last time they were checked is another story. Everyone knows Louisiana is sinking so a 50 foot levee 10 years ago may be 49.8 ft now.
I know there was a low spot in the levee around Florida BLVd that they did some work on recently.
BTW now that the COE has blown levees look for the media to jump on the bandwagon.
The CORPS and levees is like a six pack and a boat launch, it makes for good entertainment.

You can plant certain varieties of soybeans in early July... Whether or not you can make anything usually depends on irrigation.

Scottie, how is that they have increased the forecast for everywhere, but the forecast for NOLA has actually decreased .5? Wasn't the forecast for NOLA 17.5 about a week ago and now it is forecasted to crest at 17? Does that have something to do with the spillways?

avoyelles would be greatly affected. all of the northeastern portion of avoyelles and 3 miles west of the atchafalya down the whole eastern part of the parish(about 1/3 of the parish) is a floodway.

And, ironically, irrigation is being restricted this year in Ms, due to lack of water and overuse from irrigating last year during that long dry spell.
We keep going from one extreme to the next every year, one year it flood, the next is too dry, and the next it floods

I have never seen NOLA at 17.5. Everything I have looked at for 2 weeks now has had NOLA at 17. I have been told in the past that the levees protect NOLA up to 20 feet but that the CORPS will do everything possible to keep the river at 17 or less(opening B Carre spillway). So I guess they are accounting for the spillways to be opened in thier forecast. I am not sure on that one.

Hey Scottie, not sure if you saw my post couple pages back, but what is the possibility of flooding looking like in the central Ms Delta, like in the Indianola area, 25 miles east of the MR and Greenville.
