The Corps of Engineers reported that if the spillway were needed, they were confident it would still be operational.
HA. My money is on the MR jumping to the AR, because when they finally decide to open Morganza, the confidence of the Corps will, just as before, be overrated.
I know that's kind of worst case doomsday-ish, but I think we are long overdue the MR changing course. The levee system was probably the worst thing we ever could have done for our state, in terms of coastal erosion and 'natural' disasters that, more and more often, can be blamed directly on the over-confidence of men.

There are some things you just cannot do anything about.
you can't redesign/upgrade structures that per this thread were in almost full fail mode? i'm not buying it.

I'm back home in Indianola for the summer, can anybody on here inform me of the chances of massive flooding in this area of the Mississippi delta, we have a catfish/rowcrop farm in sunflower county and any reliable info would be appreciated.
I know of two catfish farmers farther south around Yazoo City that are trying to sell all their fish because in a week or two their farm will be completely under water. I have also heard over 200,000 acres will flood from shutting the gates on the Yazoo River.

I have friends that own hunting land inside the levee near Clarksdale. It is going to be a clusterfrick.

It's the right link. The lady is at the levee on stand by waiting for the 5 minute HORN. They cut live to her every now and then.

Who here claimed to be one? Are we not supposed to discuss things we aren't experts in?
