So when this happens is there going to be a massive surge of water spread throughout the land? If so, they should have done this shite earlier today. when the sun was up.

They wanted to do it during daylight but the water was rising too fast...they said they are going to do this one, another one around 1am and then another one around 10am

Still in stand by mode per chick with the gum in her mouth.

i'm not putting any stock into anything on this thread as i'm sure real news (even if just local) would be going bat shite crazy if there was anythign to worry about (i'm talking about real problems like rivers stitching courses/cities being consumed).
But my question is this: everyone keeps saying "hey, this is the worst since 1927/1973/whenever". so you mean to tell me that there have been zero upgrades since then?

no, we aren't so much freaking out bc much has been done since then
however, the expected river stages could eclipse the marks set in 1927, which we should be able to control to a point

In many places yes.

Still in stand by mode.
Well, it appears to have been doing a pretty good job for 80+ years. If it only happens once a century, wouldn't it be overkill to upgrade too much more? There are some things you just cannot do anything about.

i'm talking about the places that matter like the ORCS and morganza. After 1973 we were just like "phew, that held... lets play cards"?

However, three days ago Cairo was going to crest at 60.5-61. It is now a bit higher.
