I see what you're saying, and I agree to an extent. I usually build my teams similarly. But there are so many variables- shitty starts by starters, injuries, if you are facing a team whose pitching tears shite up early, big innings by relievers etc. In theory it sounds good, but there are a lot of instances where you need extra SPs. You're done if you have to play catch up in a given week or if you have injuries to quality innings eaters

You don't have to chase IP. If you have a solid first 35 IP, you have a decision to make. It adds another element of strategy if anything.

This is absolutely false. Not one team has 6 GOOD SPs.

That's right. I have seven of them. Redd's rankings are just flat out biased.

In this scenario you are also done in a league like TDBL, which only has a 25 IP requirement. At least in this league, you can still win a category if you throw everyone and take innings. In TDBL, you are just fricked all the way around.

Exactly

That's what the 35 IPs does. You don't need the IP as a cat becauseERA, WHIP, and QS are already cats you are putting on the line by shitting down your pitchers at or around 35 IP

So giraffe....what's your end game here?

convincing 18 people that did know the rules to change the rules even though they drafted with the known rules in place?

Are you ignoring that I conceded I didnt read the scoring like 3 times?

That is stuff every team has to worry about. My team is more susceptible to that because I have so many RPs - I wont have the IP to correct the consequences of a couple of bad starts in a single week. But that is the gamble I chose to make and I built my staff thinking of that worst case scenario.

That element is always there. You'll always worry "is my lead safe or not?" Should I throw more pitchers?

At least it always has for me

I'm discussing the rule. Looks like others are, too. Wish we could've done it a few weeks ago.

I'm sorry if that bothers you

So TBM just completely whiffed on the IP scoring category. That sucks.

FWIW from my survey results on the first page of the league sign up thread.

quote:

In the scoring section if we wanted to go 6x6,I like what the "mans league" of the ESPN fantasy baseball podcast uses, except use saves+holds(I don't like saves as its own cat when 30-40% of teams will be forced to punt the cat). IP is an interesting one to use and adds some level of strategy. Like in real life the longer your starters go the better.

The committee dind't try to hookwink anyone FWIW.

I wouldn't have drafted differently since it's repetitive anyway

I just missed where we discussed it. I generally don't look at polls unless we talk about it on the board.

And honestly in the end it's just going to be a category that teams with bad pitching weeks try and win to salvage a category,

I wasn't implying the committee hoodwinked

I was thinking since Yall are all in the HC league, that it may use IP and you maybe felt that was normal and didn't need to be addressed on the board. Any major change or scoring system usually is. Yeah, expect read people to comb through the rules, but this is a league based on a message board where everything is usually discussed. I got to comfortable in expecting that

It doesn't need to be discussed further as to not upset rondo
