Please tell me your league has a last place humiliation prize

H2H TOP 6/BOTTOM 6
Does this mean you are doing both? How do you score it? 1 point for h2h and one for top 6?
I keep wanting to propose this to one of my leagues but don't want to do it when it just looks like sour grapes. I've mentioned it to the commissioner before but it got no traction.

Yeah. You can achieve two points every week in that scenario. So the overall record is double the games.
Posted on 11/24/19 at 8:41 am to castorinho
There are two ways to have TOP 6/BOTTOM 6 wins.
One is what fantasy sites call “median” (aka hybrid scoring) where an additional win is awarded to every team that scores above the median. In hybrid/median, every team plays for two wins every week (2-0, 1-1, 0-2).
A way to play on standard sites like ESPN still only awards a single win to every team per week. The commish manually adjusts matchups on Tuesday to ensure the TOP 6 point scorers win every week win. Everyone essentially plays everyone, but a single win or loss is awarded to each team every week, which still awards weekly consistency (instead of highest season points).

My league does a win (or point) for each the H2H and Top 6. So you can go 2-0, 1-1, or 0-2 each week. We had a lot of people that hate change and vote shite down just because it goes against the grain without listening to reason, but we finally got it through a couple years ago. Some folks think it's going to take away from the importance of the H2H, but for the last couple years that we ran it, we looked at the hypothetical final standings had we just stayed with H2H and the standings were 85-90% the exact same, with a couple teams flip-flopping spots. So it's really not a huge change, but does correct a few more deserving teams moving up a spot or two. IMO, it helps to get the standings "right" without being a radical change.

Threw a pretty big pity party for myself. We recently moved to the H2H + Top6-Bottom6 for overall standings and it helps.
which fantasy apps support this? Going to switch next year

None because it was invented on this board by me and some others like 10 years ago. You have to use a site that allows you to change the schedule after games for that week have been played. ESPN does this, others do too.
For example, after monday night on a given week, I go to the schedule and edit it to match a top 6 team against a bottom 6 team so that it gives the top 6 a win and the bottom 6 a loss. It takes no more than 5 minutes.

should be in a hybrid league

F all that. I just have a spreadsheet that computes standings each week, then I paste the standings in the League Note.

If you want to do top 6 (median scoring) plus head to head, sleeper can do this.
I prefer just top 6 bottom 6 because it takes away the fluke wins and losses, and scrub teams that don't care at the end of the year don't influence who gets a win or loss as much.

Yeah, that's more work for you and everyone. It's so much easier just to switch, at most, 3-4 teams around in the schedule each week, and it keeps the standings clean on the website.
But by all means keep doing it the hard way.

nope, thats all you brotha
literally punch the scores (automatically calculates T6/B6) and H2H results (a 1 for a win or 0 for a loss) into my spreadsheet, which takes about 60 seconds, then I c/p the standings it gives me. manually set playoff matchups end of year.
spend about 15min total over the course of a season doing extra work, about as easy as it gets
ETA: I see you just do T6/B6 and not hybrid. I misread earlier. Yes, your way is easier for that

I've heard sleeper supports it, but we're still on ESPN so we do it manually. Someone keeps a spreadsheet and just copies the results of the H2Hs for the week, then gives one more W to the top 6, L to the bottom 6. Not too hard. Then manually set playoff seeding at the end.
Definitely looking to give sleeper a look next year

You punching in the scores takes longer than me clicking a check box. Then people don't have to refer to a spreadsheet for updates standings, everything is right there.
I mean to each their own. If that works for you, cool. I've been doing this awhile, with input from many on this board, and this is what we've found to be the best for us. But everyone has their own way of doing things

Ahh shite
FWIW sleeper does the hybrid. I like the app. First year using it.
Posted on 11/24/19 at 10:14 am to PortCityTiger24
check my edit, i misunderstood
good to know, i'll look into it. im sure it will be a monumental task to get people to leave ESPN though
seems like most people (myself included) hate having to open 3 apps for different fantasy leagues

Does anyone play in a league that actually pays out for highest total season points? Or best full season t6b6 record? Or does your league rely solely on the traditional playoff format to recognize who the best teams are each season?
If you do award for most season points or best t6b6 record, what is the payout % in relation to the total prize pool? Do you award 2nd and 3rd place in total season points/t6b6?
In one league we split the prize pool 50/50. Half going towards h2h playoff and the other half going towards a points race. Both components award the top 3 finishers.
I would love to hear other opinions on hybrid payout structures or how your league currently pays out.

We do in tdfl. highest points trumps best record in our league.
I think 300.00 of the total 3k pot goes to the top scorers.

I assume that's the top 2 high scoring teams? Is that $150 each or $300 each out of a total $3k pot?
What does the rest of the payout structure look like?
