Ever witnessed someone come in last place with the most points?

This has a decent chance of happening in my league to a buddy and it is HILARIOUS.

He has played the team with the 1st or 2nd most points every week this season. 4 separate weeks he has had the 2nd highest point total and lost.

The odds of this have to be remote

The whole season he has just said the ship will right itself because his team is so good, but his opponents just keep killing it. If he loses this week and scores a decent amount, it'll likely happen.

He's so helpless because he has a great team. No trade is going to help him.

Epitome of bad luck

I've been on the playoff bubble a couple times as the highest (or 2nd highest) scorer. But never close to being in danger of last. That's some legendary bad luck

I missed the playoffs one year with the highest total finished 7/12. fricking horse shite. I’ve forever been anti matchups ever since.

This makes me feel a little better about my situation this year
My main league - top scorer, but had more points scored against me than for me. Sitting outside of the playoffs at 5-6 after starting the season 4-1.
In another league, I've had two losses by less than a point in the past 3 weeks.

I have the most points in my league but also by far the most points against. Currently sitting at 6-4 and one loss away from possibly not making the playoffs.

I ran the numbers. The league scores 17 points higher per game against me than average. Just got beaten by the last place guy this past week. Both times we played this season he scored 25 points higher than his average.

mother frick this stupid fricking game.

I missed the playoffs once with the most points and thought that was unusual. Last place seems almost impossible.

My league pays back the entry fee (150) for most points. Basically the same payout as 3rd place (12 team league). I've always liked that because it still rewards a solid team even if you miss the playoffs or flame out in 1st round. Also gives you a reason to root for your guys on MNF after your team has already won.

Before this week I was first in points and 10/12 in the standing. The kicker is it is a head to head and median league.

Not exactly but it happened to me last year, I was a top 3 scorer every week for the first 10 weeks and was 3-7, lost two games by less than a point on the last play of a game.

Its really deflating.

That’s why we have the last two playoff spots filled by wildcards. high points throughout the season. If y’all haven’t done that by now, it’s bush league.

meh. Is the guy that boomed three times during the season but was otherwise mediocre better than the guy who was consistently above average?

H2H TOP 6/BOTTOM 6 is a great way to correct this.
It really does fix all of these “luck” complaints and still retains the H2H matchup weekly consistency, instead of rewarding a team who scored 1.5x-2x the typical score three weeks during the season.

That can be the case. It also can be the case that someone who was consistently above average got fricked by matchups.

The year I missed I lost 6 times scoring over 100 in a 12 team std league with no bonus scoring. I also won the high point total 4 times. It almost made me quit fantasy football.

I know. I was replying to the guy that automatically puts the high scorers who didn't make the playoffs in the wild card spots. If they really want to remove "luck" out of it, it'd be better to have the two teams with the higher weekly points.

IF this were to actually happen...the only course of action would be to raise the money to pay for his fees for next season. Post it on here, reddit, etc....I'm sure it'd get paid for pretty soon. It's only fair, for real!

I had to make a spreadsheet last year to illustrate how much bullshite my season was last year. I got so wrapped up in it too. It showed:
- none of my opponents had any significant bye weeks during our matchup
- how much they scored vs me compared to their average
- what they were scoring the 2 weeks prior and 2 weeks after they played me to illustrate the extreme spike they had when they played me
- all the scrubs or waiver-wire players that had career-high performances vs me
- My average margin of loss (had about 3-4 losses by less than 2 points)
- Percentage of scoring for my opponents that was garbage time

Threw a pretty big pity party for myself. We recently moved to the H2H + Top6-Bottom6 for overall standings and it helps.

I Agree, was just reiterating with best optio (H2H - Top6/Bottom 6) I have played with.
