So hard to orchestrate a deal in a 10 teamer considering everyone has viable players on their bench.

Also hard to justify even making a trade most of the time.

Every year that passes the more I dont like anything shallower then 12.

Anyone feel this way?

Always find it hard to find a trade partner in 10 team leagues.

In my 10 team league I tried to make 2 trades this week for someone's backup TE that were both either rejected or countered with something I wasn't willing to part with. FA for me.

every team is pretty loaded, endowment effect on steroids in a 10 team league.

I agree. I'd rather play in 12-14 team league or even a 2 QB. 10 team leagues are almost luck of the draw, hoping you don't start a RB that puts up 20 points and the guy on your bench goes off for 30.

I've been in the same 10 team league for 12 years and we average like 2-3 trades a year... my qb's are garbage this year (Wilson & Mariota) so I sent Wilson/J. Gordon for Cam. Im not hurting at receiver and his other QB is Mahomes

Standard league and no flex

Yes very hard in 10 man league. When you look at rosters, trying to figure out something viable in your opinion, is always hard to find something that benefits both and is "fair"...but then I had an owner drop Ingram a week before he comes back after he sat on him for 3 weeks so I guess you never know unless you propose something to each team in your league.

I'm in a 10 team and 14 team league. I find it equally hard in both but for opposite reasons.

As you say, most 10 team league's have viable players at every starting position, unless they supremely suck.

But also my 14 team league has a very small bench, so giving up anyone straight up is risky. Most people have maybe 2 studs who they absolutely won't deal, so you're basically left trying to take a flyer on 2nd and 3rd options.

I imagine 12 may be the sweet spot for trade deals. When my 14 team league was 12, many more trades went down.

ETA: I'll also add that I find trades are much more easily done in person. When you can actually talk back and forth. It's like selling, when you get an automated pitch for a deal you're more likely to think it's a scam and avoid it.

That’s a big reason why. The players in free agency are much better . Have a bye or injury? You don’t trade for a player, you add someone to fill the spot that you feel somewhat comfortable with

This is my 1st year in a 10 team league and its ok. Always been in a 12 team league. The only thing that keeps it very interesting is that you are only allowed 5 bench players. So it keeps the waivers very active.

Im in a 12 team but with only 4 bench spots and one IR spot so there’s always something serviceable available in waivers or FA if you get an injury or have a bye week

We’ve only had a handful of trades the last few years because of it

Yea it is for sure. There aren’t any clear needs on most teams. I prefer 12 team leagues

Eh. I've played in the same 10 team league for years and trade often. Already had 2 trades this year and I probably average 3-4 a year. I also play in a 12 teamer with different people and that one rarely trades. I think it's more about the people in the league then anything else.

Controlling for all other factors, the smaller the number of owned players, the less often you will have trades.

You can increase the number of owned players either by having more teams in the league, having more bench spots, or both. I commish a twelve team league with seven bench spots plus an IR. We've already had one trade (WR/RB swap) to fix roster holes.

I've genuinely never understood the assertion that the constant swapping of players on the waiver wire was the sign of a healthy league. To me, it's the sign of a league that is 95% luck.

I find it hard to trade in general, everyone wants to "win" and other owners hate seeing another team get better

If you're saying what I think you're saying, that's why trade reviews should be LM only and not left up to a vote.
