I don't like all of these rules that boost defense value. It's probably the least predictable position in fantasy, so I don't get why you would want to make it score even more points. We've all had weeks where we've either won or lost because our defense randomly scores 30 or has a great matchup and scores -4. Why would you want to make instances like that occur more often?

Only real rule change we've discussed in my league this year is switching from waiver priority to FAAB. I've been pushing FAAB for the last few years, but guys are reluctant to change anything.

After the Cohen TD pass it was heavily lobbied for that sort of thing to be worth 10 points.

Just curious whats the reason behind taking out kickers? After having Matt Bryant last year I can say first hand kickers win games

Only way to do waivers IMO.

I am pushing to have our commissioner "update" scores to help out defenses whose offense allowed a score.

For example: Say you are starting the Cardinals D. Carson Palmer throws a pick six. The Cardinals D loses points because it allowed a touchdown (according to fantasy football scoring). BUT, if the Commissioner can update the score to take away that 7, then the defense gets what it actually produced and is not knocked by terrible offensive play.

ESPN fixed this issue this year in their scoring.

I disagree.. some defense are more prone to create turnovers and sacks.. I could understand toning down the scoring a bit though, but defensive TDs should be rewarded just as the offensive ones are

Now this, I completely agree with and it’s a shame that yahoo, espn, etc don’t already have this in place

Apparently they did fix it... let me go look

Well it doesn't sound like you disagree with me. I was talking about all the above suggestions about more points for safeties, points for tipped passes, less yards allowed, etc.
I'm ok with defense scoring how it is in most leagues.

I’ve never heard of a league that gives points for tipped passes , that’s asinine, with all due respect

**i was disagreeing with your point that defenses were unpredictable

Ok well then I guess you didn't read the rest of the thread, because the post I was replying to specifically said they get points for passes defended and batted balls...and I said I disagreed with that.

We get .2 for batted/tipped/passes defensed. It's usually never over 1.5 points.

The post you replied to didn’t say anything about tipped passes:

quote:

In my league, safety's are 4 pts, players get return yards at a 1 pt per 15 yds, defense gets 1 pt per 25 yds, and our Def rewards more for yards and points than anything else, plus TFL & 3 & outs....what I would like to see is kickers get actual points kicked, ex. A 46 yd FG would be 4.6 points.

ETA: I see that the post after his mentioned it... no big deal.. i think that’s (points for tipped passes and run stuffs) a little excessive IMO

The way we have adjusted def points is to punish a team that gives up a ton of points and yards, and give productive points for playing good defense. ..I just can't see a safety being the same amount of points as a interception or fumble recovery. Jmo

Ah yea sorry you're right, but that's the one I was referencing.

Anyway, we agree that the tipped passes is a dumb rule.
