I say yes. I also think they should be audited yearly.

I was thinking, Trump wants to rebuild infrastructure. Seems to me this is the opportunity to start a WPA like program to do the work and use this in lieu of welfare.

I also think people on welfare should be audited to make sure they aren't buying big screen TVs or new cars.
I am a repairman and I go into homes in the hood sometimes and see a $40k car in the driveway, a $2500 TV on the wall and they pay $50 a month rent.

That shite pisses me off.

Welfare fraud should cause you to lose benefits for life. Trump has a mandate to make real major changes,

They are supposed to be either working or volunteering. We all know that doesn't happen though

Yes. I read a post about the evil Republicans now forcing you to work a job you hate instead of waiting for a job you love. That's not evil, that's called being a fricking adult.

Even just 15 hours a week service per recipient would let us do so many great things. We would have the cleanest streets and best roads in the world. Also those leeches might learn a trade skill or two and get off the welfare train. Doing a job you dislike is a great motivator to better yourself.

I always laugh standing in line at walmart and watching people pull out LA Purchase cards from $300 Coach Purses and Wallets.

There is an awfully big long wall that is going to be built. Should be plenty of opportunity!

No. Not everyone works the same way. Plus some view unemployment as a socialist protest against the capitalist system.

I only have but one upvote to give and it is yours sir.

"workfare" needs to be the cornerstone of this administration.

Absolutely. Most of the "disabled" are not truly disabled.

To me, it's more about unemployment benefits. If after a certain amount of time, you're still without a job and drawing unemployment, you should only be able to receive benefits provided the government puts you to work (ex building a wall on the Mexican border)

That's those "California Values". American values that I learned told me that all work is meaningful work and you do whatever you can to put food on the table for your family and stay off the public dole, if at all possible. If that means taking a temporary job that you hate, then thats what you do.

I would put a limit on the number of months during your lifetime you could be on assistance.

I think 60 months would be acceptable. I could see a person being laid off and getting on assistance while they find another job, but there needs to be a real incentive for them to find another job. After a couple months the go back to work and in 15 years they get laid off again.

It is crazy that there are people who are middle aged and have never had a job.

I am actually against that. The cost is prohibitive and drug testing is unfairly skewed towards pot.

if they arent on a job interview they should be doing something productive like cleaning up the litter around town or something.
