I think Haydel's may have the best cream cheese king cake. Not that goopy mess most places sell.

I’m a Haydels man myself!

I’m still baffled at how often I hear people say that as an insult.

Well I’ll explain it to you. People do love cinnamon rolls. Mainly for breakfast when they’re at least warm, if not hot, with soft breading and gooey melted cinnamon and icing. Every ate a cold cinnamon roll? They’re ok. Certainly nothing to right home about. Which is the same emotion that tons of people have about king cakes. Hope this helps you.

This is what it has to be most of the time with these folks. And it was probably a four day old crappy cake at that.

A well-made king cake with cream cheese is better than any plain king cake IMO. Have to find you a new bakery.

Agree 1000%

But

It’s not traditional

I had a disagreement with someone who was appalled that I put my piece of king cake in the microwave for a few seconds before I ate it.

She just couldn't understand my logic. I asked if she'd rather have king cake straight out of the oven or after it had sit on the counter for 2 weeks.
