They just need E to show him how to make a script and game plan. It would be nice having him back in the booth to help with in game adjustments and play calling too but I think he wants to be retired and done with it lol.

This - just because we went 2-0 everyone thought he was great but we still lacked downfield passing and explosive plays except when Boutte would take a 10-15 yd pass and run 30 yds for a TD

Oh yeah, he's different. He wasn't skittish under pressure last year when he played.

He wasn't in the early part of the UCLA game, either.

But they knocked the shite out of him, enough to where he began anticipating hits. He wasn't backpedaling in the pocket early on, he began doing it during the game after getting drilled a few times. He definitely wasn't blindly throwing the ball away last year (or earlier in that game).

Go back and rewatch it if you can tolerate it, and see if you can find some wider angles. He was getting hit after releasing the ball, just about every pass. That, and the run being a non-factor (gotta keep passing, which means gonna keep getting hit) got inside his head.

I HOPE it's something he can get over, but that's the type of thing that can ruin a QB.

Bruh. The problem is the O line, they need to play the more mobil QB who can buy a few seconds with his feet.

Scott Linehan was calling all of the plays last year.

Peetz is doing fine.

These guys are being paid way too much for this too be a learning experience...
Max Johnson needs to spend the summer playing pitch and catch with his wide recivers...they definitely are not on the same page this season...

“It’s important to remember that Jake Peetz and DJ Mangas have never been play-callers before.

Peetz didn’t get the offensive coordinator job because of his reputation as a coach — he got the job because he was on the same coaching staff last season (with the Carolina Panthers) as former Tigers passing game coordinator Joe Brady.

That could end up proving to be another ill-advised hasty hire by Coach O.”

The problem is some of both Peetz and Max as well as the Oline.

Strength and conditioning overall is also a problem at every position, save the kicker.

What a collection of coaches we have in this thread. Gonna call O and tell him about the wealth of offensive football knowdlege in this thread.

Some of you can expect a phone call soon.

I can start a roux when Max starts to throw and have a finished seafood gumbo by the time it leaves his hand. And his velocity is sub-par.

These things make pushing it downfield very hard.
