Anybody ever done a week in Nova Scotia?

We did this in 2018. After a brief stay in Bar Harbor, Maine drove to St John, NB. Took the ferry the next day to Digby. Stayed in a bed and breakfast on a dairy farm basically outside of town somewhere for several days. Took some day trips from there to the west side of the island where our waitress sounded like she was from Pierre Part or thereabouts, to Annapolis Royal (great lobster roll in an Austrian restaurant), and an Acadian village museum of some sort. Then moved up to a bed and breakfast near or in Wolfville I think. Spent two nights there if I recall. Watched the tide come in and visited Grand-Pré. Then we went up to Cape Breton and did some hiking in the national park. Then we went to the Alexander Graham Bell museum on our way to Prince Edward Island for several days. Went to the Ross Family Ceilidh - wasn’t sure I would, but I really enjoyed it.

The breakfasts at our bed and breakfasts were great. Homemade jams, breads, maple syrup, etc.

Great trip, but I don’t think you can pick one spot and make day trips to everywhere you would want. Too far.

Did not spend a week there but I have been to Halifax. Pretty town. Three things stand out:

The Titantic Cemetery - Halifax was the nearest port to the disaster and was where the recovered bodies were brought to be buried. It is strange seeing rows and rows of tombstones with different names, different dates of birth, and all with the same date of death, April 15, 1912.

Peggy's Cove - Dramatic views of the iconic red and white lighthouse with the waves crashing against the rocks.

Lobsters - Eat them every chance you get.

Yes, we did a week there. Flew into Halifax, did Peggy’s Cove, drove to the Bay of Fundy (at low tide). Then drove across NB and the Confederation Bridge to PEI. Ferry back to NS, then the Cape Breton drive. Stayed on Cape Breton for a couple of nights.

It was August and the weather was fantastic. I saw the biggest scallops & lobsters I’ve ever seen for sale in the seafood markets.

The seafood was really good everywhere we went, as was the lobster stuffed potato in PEI.

Spent about 6 weeks up there over two trips, unfortunately both were in Jan/Feb. Halifax is a cool little town. Took the ferry over from Dartmouth, which was freezing cold, but still enjoyable.

As others mentioned, Peggy's Cove is beautiful. We actually had a sunny "warm" day when we visited, but I'd love to go back in the summer.

Ate enough lobster rolls & fish/chips to kill someone.
