Is every airline’s phone customer service as bad as Delta’s right now?

Literally can’t get through to delta. Horror stories all over the internet.

Is every airline like this or is it just delta? Maybe if delta let you do more things online without having to call they wouldn’t have such a problem.

Isn't there an article on the OT that their website is down? That could cause some issues. But yes I have heard they have been terrible recently. Have you tried the chat with us feature or Twitter?

I don’t have a Twitter so I haven’t tried that. Another issue was they weren’t doing call backs. I finally got the option so we’ll see if I ever get a call. It’s not a huge deal. I got an extra day off so I want to move our flight up a day. But if I can’t ever get in touch it’s not the end of the world. There’s people posting on the delta Reddit they’ve been on hold for 8 hours.

I always use the callback feature with American and they’ve been good about it. Within the last few months delta has been terrible about getting someone. Sometimes I get the option for a callback, sometimes not. The chat/text feature was almost as bad (in my experience) as having to call.

They’ve been so busy the last couple of months they either ended it at peak times or they maxed out and couldn’t log any more numbers. I finally got the option.

I called yesterday at 9am and selected the callback option.

Got a call at 1030pm as I was laying down to bed...

Oh, what I've heard is to call the Singapore delta number. People have gotten through in 5 minutes, going to try and find the number shortly

Yep. I've also heard of people having success with the Hong Kong number.

I tried to call yesterday morning and hold time was estimated to be over 8 hours. Tried last night around 9 and it was 2.5 hours. I waited on hold until after midnight and gave up.

I also tried the text feature from the app last night and every hour I had to respond if I wanted to keep trying. Fell asleep and it cancelled request when I didn't respond.

This morning I tried texting again around 9 and got a response within the hour. Rep took care of issue within 15 minutes and sent confirmation email.

Until they get staffing levels up, text or twitter is probably best way to go.

Edit - never had a call back option when I called.

Thanks Cuse. Bookmarked for future use. The last 2 times I've tried the call back option I didn't receive a call until around 3 AM. Make sure you have your ringer volume up

It’s not just airlines.

It is pretty much every large company or organization that relies on lots of bodies to handle large call volumes.


Call centers are overwhelmed and under staffed.

They’re all bad but none as bad as deltas right now. I had the best luck with the online chat tool but that still took forever. You can send the message though and leave push notifications on so you’ll know when they reply.

Agree that although all airlines are bad, Delta is currently the worst. They usually won’t even offer call-back if wait time is over 4 hours (which it usually is). Total bullshite. I think these airlines that accepted federal financial assistance should have to meet a minimum customer service level.

I got through to Delta in less than two mins yesterday at a bit after 0700 about a reservation in Oct. She was quick to get me off the line though, so who knows if I got the best information.
