Just wear muted colors. Black, dark grey, and navy are all fine. Don’t wear a bombastic shirt or tie and you’re fine. A funeral is not where you show off how cool your wardrobe is.

Black or dark grey with black belt and shoes.
Keep the color of the tie toned down also but not a black one

this is nothing to do with your grandfather, so please don't take it any certain way, just more a general observation...
does anyone ever wonder how/why taking off your hat is a sign of respect/proper etiquette, etc? like, how did that practice/ritual/tradition/etc., come to be, as opposed to, say, clapping your hands 3 times, or taking off your left shoe, or some other ritualistic motion? on it's face, there's nothing magical or really special about wearing a hat, so it shouldn't be a big deal, but to some people, it's huge, yet many don't really know any particular reason, other than "just because" or "it's tradition" or whatever.....

In most parts of Louisiana, you’ll never go wrong wearing a red shirt with a black tie or black shirt with a red tie.

I don’t like black suits, so I have a dark gray for funerals. Brown and tan for happier occasions.

Dark... But I see people in jeans now a days.. So who knows.

Any suit appropriate for work is also appropriate for a funeral.

If gray is good enough for Tony Soprano, it's good enough for me.
