1. Let everybody know this is strictly procedural. Trump's nominee has the votes because she is eminently qualified. This is happening whether Democrats and their media wing lose their shite or not. Doesn't matter, Don't care. If you melt, you melt. Melt more. Melt less. We enjoy it either way.

2. Tell any remaining Republican who is waffling that they have 24 hours to go on the record or they will be abandoned by the party and every effort will be made to end their careers. And then do it. Funnel all that energy and all those resources into other Senate races.

3. Hold a (non-Trump-attended) unity rally PRIOR to confirmation on the House Steps (or other photo op spot) with every Representative/Senator where they explain briefly how the confirmation process works Constitutionally, state unequivocally that will happen immediately, have Scalise and Paul talk about political violence by recalling their ordeals, warn America that The Democrats seemingly WANT violence, call on the Democrats to stand down, and tell America that they expect their nominee to not have to endure personal smears, and that when such smears occur, they will just move on because they just won't be gutter snipers like the violent Dems and because they have a higher civic duty to maintain American peace and order.

4. During the confirmation, have the nominee adopt a tone of "I'm not going to dignify that SMEAR with a response" , "Are you serious with that SMEAR", " Do you have any questions that aren't a SMEAR", "That's a ridiculous SMEAR" etc. Make sure she just smiles her way through the smears like a sunny Conservative who has unwavering self-respect.

5. Republicans should minimize their comments in her defense, not even acknowledge Democrat smears with anything more than face-palming, eye-rolling, derisive and sarcastic laughter etc., reiterate that this is strictly procedural and stick to a repeated phrase like "Clown World", "Radical Leftist attack on our Constitution", "Willing to do or say anything" , "refusal to share power" etc. Turn Alinsky around on them and just agitate , ridicule and mock The Democrats. Don't just say "that's a ridiculous smear"-laugh LOUDLY and say "That's hilarious, you are 100% aware that is a ridiculous smear and you are still doing it because you only want to destroy this nominee".

6. After confirmation is complete, hold a big-arse pro-American Rally with speeches about the greatness of American traditions, principle, ideals and Institutions with fireworks and music like Confirmation is the greatest 4th of July/SuperBowl, V Day combo ever . Put an exclamation point on it immediately prior to the election. Be the Party Of Light and let the Democrats continue to be the Party of Darkness.

All the FEAR on this board and elsewhere, when this is the greatest OPPORTUNITY to own the Democrats that we could possibly ask for. This is a GIFT. Treat it like one. Hit this motherfricker over the fence.

Hopefully the attendance at the hearings is more limited instead of Kavanaugh's where there were blue haired shims screaming in the hall way and alyssa milano in the fricking room.

Well, to be fair, we do love it a lot more when they melt more. I watch the 2016 election night melt videos on YouTube at least on a biweekly basis.

100% agree.

Own it. Own hypocrisy. Own rule of law. Own "our side is in charge, sorry your girl loss." Own "you're damn right she'll go after Roe v Wade." Own that you'll destroy any republican that says "no." own calling out the democrats that they're only trying to smear ACB.

own all of it.

i'm not saying be an a-hole about it. there's absolutely no need to gloat. just say we've been elected to be in charge and our constituents elected us in the senate for this reason.

McConnell just needs to go into recess and let President Trump appoint a justice. This would cause their heads to explode.

Dims don't have the civility and dignity to participate in a confirmation hearing.

As bad as we wish we could do that you can't because you will lose your majority and hence all of your power that goes with the majority status. Dumb, dumb, dumb...

This is not reality. And certainly not the reality of the GOP.....

The Constitution says nothing at all about the process other than the nominees shall be confirmed with the advice and consent of the Senate. The House has zero role to play. This is the reason that Congress is a joke to begin with. 99% of their procedural "rules" and "processes" are self-imposed and can be changed with a majority vote. If the majority of either house of Congress actually wanted the hurdles for any given action to be lowered, they would lower the hurdles.

Why refer the confirmation to the Judiciary Committee at all? Nomination hearings are nothing but campaigning and showing-off for the cameras anyhow these days. Nothing in the Constitution requires any hearing whatsoever.

Here is how I would like for the nominee to answer any question on religion and abortion.
“Senator, I will not allow my religious beliefs to interfere with any ruling on Constitutional issues, nor have I ever in the past. That is all I have to say on the subject as guaranteed by the Constitution and I exercise that right, next subject”. When they come back with the same ole question phrased differently, repeat it verbatim. Rinse, repeat, rinse repeat. You are not going to change one vote or help yourself in any fashion as they go harder and deeper on the attack. Rinse, repeat.

That is exactly how he should do it with the added, "We know exactly what the vote is going to be both in this committee and on the Senate floor no matter what is said or asked or answered here. Judge Barrett/Lagao/etc, if you want to read a book or listen to your ipod or even have a picnic lunch right here at this table with your family during these question, then please feel free to do so. My apologies in advance for what you are about to have to hear and witness.

do not fall for that. there is nothing to "own". do not let the libs try to convince you the repubs are being hypocrites. 2016 was divided leadership. 2020 is a republican president and senate. it is not divided. the people spoke and elected a republican senate majority to go along with a republican president, and they have the authority to move forward. this is a different situation, and it is NOT hypocritical.

Republicans were idiots in 2016 when they opened this door by defending the inaction on Garland as becuase "its an election year".

Had they just been honest and said "we have the majority and the majority makes the rules. We aren't moving on it because we don't have to"....this entire discussion could have been avoided.
