Anyone have luck doing a walk in at these two locations?
SO has conditional approval but MSY appointments aren't available until June. We will be going through GP and Mobile next week and wondering if it was worth it to stop in and see if it could be done then.

Are either of those international airports? If not, they won't have C&BP.

Both are listed as interview locations and have availability before June but I'd like to try to get it done sooner since we will be very close on I10

Did mine at GPT last year and it probably took less than 15min from getting out of the car to getting back in it.

Did you have an appointment or walk in?

I had an appointment, but got there about 1/2hr early and there wasn't a soul there waiting. I just walked right in and they didn't even ask if I had an appointment.

We might try it next week.

Did mine at Gulfport about a year 1.5yrs ago. Needed Appointment. Breeze easy and better then trying to do it when you flying.

Same for me in 2018.

Check the website regularly. Spots open up almost every day due to cancellations.

We went to Gulfport. You can make an appointment on-line. Not a bad drive from BR, airport is super nice, free parking up close, and we were in and out on a flash. Stopped on the Northshore coming back for lunch and beers. Much better than dealing with MSY

I will say that 2x in last year was pulled aside for "Random" inspection on returning from international flight. Was told the TSA picks the passengers before hand. I talked to few others both times, we all where Global Entry members. So expect your carry ones to be completely emptied out at boarding gate....PITA.

Maybe an unpopular opinion but honestly you don’t need global entry. I’ve heard horror stories about JFK but other airports I’ve cleared pretty fast. Use the Mobile Passport app to bypass some of the steps on arrival.
If you don’t have an interview location close by I wouldn’t drive an hour out of the way to save 10 minutes.

Gpt. by a mile. In and out in 15 min. Keep checking the site for a reservation time.

We did our interviews at gulfport a couple le years ago, but had interview times. There were several there that were walkins, they had no problem hitting them in.

I had my Global Entry interview a few weeks ago at MSY. I went on a Tuesday afternoon for a 1 pm apartment and was the only one there. Was done in 15 minutes. I asked the agent if my wife could just come in and do her interview instead of waiting for her April appointment. She said yes, but if there are appointments ahead of her she has to wait until they are done.

What do you really need this for?
Is it simply to bypass customs only coming back to the US?

I am travelling to Europe next week and it's only $15 more than TSA Pre-Check. The Pre-Check is a life saver on most domestic flights, so I went ahead and got the Global Entry as well. I don't fly internationally very often, but for $15 and 5 years, it made sense to me.

TPG or one of the other travel sites had a blog that said at the airports that offer it, mobile passport is usually quicker than global entry.

This has been the case for me as well. I think a lot of people just don't know or think about mobile passport.
That said, getting pre-check with Global Entry makes it worth it.
