Even for those that hate Aranda, I expect teams to come knocking again. He is as elite as there is and that hasn’t changed.

For some reason I have a gut feeling that we sweat out a few schools looking at him as a Head Coach.

Nah his stock fell this year. I think there's a reason his name has barely been mentioned.

His salary is a barrier to entry for most college opportunities. And I think his pro prospects are overrated.

I researched this last year, but haven’t checked this year, but at that time there was not a single DC in the NFL that made the direct jump from college as DC. They were all career NFL guys. I’m sure that still holds.

Sarkisian was the only OC that met that criteria.

I also don’t see him as a Power 5 head coach, so he would have to take a pay cut to a mid major.

So, where would he go?

I think at this point LSU is overpaying for Aranda.

That may be true, but he’s here now and likely not leaving unless he takes a pay cut or gets a head coaching job, which doesn’t appear likely.

Well, if he delivers the same D we saw this weekend the rest of the way, then he’s still worth it, but that’s still a big if at the moment.

Life is pretty good for Aranda. Any college DC move would be lateral, or down. He does not have the experience to be a head coach yet, without going to a smaller school first.

The pros seem to pull from within and he is a college guy.

He is paid well, he is in a good situation, and his family likes it in BR. Life is good.

Aranda is the highest-paid assistant coach in college football. Big difference between “top assistant” and “highest-paid assistant.” Based on performance this year, Aranda isn’t the top assistant on his own staff.

Why would he leave? He makes more or as much money as most head coaches, and being a DC is astronomically far less stressful relative to being a head coach. Aranda also hates to be in the limelight. Which is kind of a prerequisite with being the head coach at a college football program. Not to mention that he loves working for ED O. Aranda is not interested in going anywhere.

I dunno, for some reason he always struck me as having the right demeanor to be a really successful HC. I wouldn't be surprised if he left to go to one of the lower-tier P5 jobs and get a good deal with a decent buyout if things didn't work out. He's young, even if he fails spectacularly as an HC ala Chadwick he'll still be in demand as a DC.

Well, yeah. Who wouldn't?
