I’d like to buy a lightly used Triax and there are a ton listed in the classified section of Archery Talk. How exactly did you handle the transaction?

One of my sons traded regularly on Archery Talk and all transactions were successful except 1 of about 10. The unsuccessful involved a jackass in Colorado who never sent the bow. The jackass got my son’s bow and kept it along with about 20 others. A policeman called us after they caught the jackass and went thru all of his records. After describing his bow to the policeman, he waited until they could release it back to him. All good at the end of the one bad ordeal. It’s a trust site where you have to trust the other party.

I've bought and sold about 5 bows on there. Never had a problem with any of my transactions including clothes etc.

I bought a cheap take down recurve off of there. Obviously not as much can go wrong with a recurve but the transaction went smoothly.

I bought a Hoyt Alphamax a season after they were released. At the time it was a 1k Bare now. I got it fully dressed out with a dozen arrows and broadheads for $700. My brother did the same thing with a Matthews Z7 Extreme. I will never buy a new bow. I’ve also bought game cams and a MoultrieMobile from Archerytalk. Great place.

I have a bow I’m looking to offload possibly on archery talk, how do you go about shipping/protecting a bow?

If the price is right, buy it. I shot one last year and almost pulled the trigger but couldn't with the 1k bare bow tag. Ended up finding a 2016 elite synergy NIB on ebay for $400.

I’ve bought and sold bows on there before. I paid the paypal account and asked for a tracking number ASAP to track the shipment. I’ve never had problems. Look at their feedback first. If they have any negative feedback I wouldn’t risk it. If its positive then my experience has been great.

You can ship them in pretty much normal boxes that fit a bow with good packing materials.

As long as you use PayPal and make sure the seller states all of the info in the PayPal invoice about the bow such as the company name, bow name, size, year, accessories, etc. just make them be thorough. Give you a tracking number, you are pretty well protected by PayPal.

I've shipped a couple. Just go by an archery shop and get a box that on was shipped in.
I shipped a longbow one time and got a long tube from bass pro that a rod was shipped in. Kurt gotta ask.

I did use PayPal. I talked to the guy a decent amount beforehand. I sent the money, he shipped it and send me the tracking number hours later.

It's going to be different people but if something were to get fishy, PayPal should deal with it

I have purchased and sold earlier this year on AT. Worked out just fine. Both transactions I used PayPal. I did pay the 3% fee when I bought and the guy who bought mine paid it also.

Think most of those guys are good guys like us here.

I've bought and sold a few on there. Use PayPal and pay the 3%.

Just bought one a couple weeks ago. Used paypal. Archerytalk forum rules require the seller have everything ready to go and provide a tracking number shortly after money is received. Everything went smoothly except for USPS holding the package in Memphis for about 6 days due to bad weather.
