Yeah, this may not be a popular opinion, but as someone who has less and less time to game nowadays, less is better for me. I might only play 2-3 hours a week and these types of games take months for me to finish. I know it's dumb to bitch about TOO MUCH content, but I feel compelled to soak in the whole experience and it basically means I can't ever get to other games. I can play for 2 hours, doing nothing but missions, not dicking around with other stuff, and I only get .5% more towards completion. It feels like I'm not getting anything done. I think they could've cut out a lot of the missions and not lost any quality.

The worst part about the game is how much of it is wasted time. Cutscenes drag on forever, almost every mission requires you to get on your horse and follow someone for the first 5 minutes, being forced to walk at a snails pace through certain parts, and of course as others have said there's just too much travelling with not enough options to speed it up. For someone who only plays an hour at a time I feel lucky to get through just one mission when I play.

The dialogue and acting are great, graphics and the world are beautiful, but it just wears on you by the end. And so many things in the game just don't have much point. There's very little reward for completing the challenges, for upgrading your camp, etc.

I love threads like these...

“There is too much to do in this game.”
“I lack the willpower to avoid easily ignored side quests.”
“I know that multiple mechanisms are built into the game to avoid the monotony or riding a horse but gawd-dammit I want a Star Trek Next Generation transporter pad built into the outlaw camp at Horseshoe Overlook.”

Okay, I kid, I kid, but...

I mean, even the Witcher 3 has a better fast travel solution than this game

As compared to a shoulder pistol?

Sawed off shotty > any other handgun.

Dual Vocanics maxed out are better, but I do love the sawed off

it was early enough in the game to where I just got off my horse and I only had whatever the default carry at that time was and no it was not that beautiful sawed off shotty. otherwise I would have raped the bear instead of the bear raping my face.

The only thing that I found annoying about the game was keeping Arthur’s weight in the ideal range. During my three playthru’s, his weight fluctuated between average to over weight, I could never really fine tune his weight.

He's always underweight on mine because I only eat whenever my health takes a hit. Does it actually do anything?

I think it effects the drain rate on his stamina, health and deadeye core. It takes 90 minutes real time to drain those three cores from 100%. Eating certain foods can replenish the entire core when drained but I didn’t wait that long to replenish, I kinda snacked here and there whenever the cores needed some boost.

For me it's more about how long it takes to do anything. So when there's a ton of stuff to do and everything takes forever to do, it makes the game drag. I know it's better than having nothing to do, but I like feeling like I accomplished something each time I play, and plenty of times I come away feeling like all I did was ride my horse from one place to another.

Problem here is that there's hardly any benefit to doing them, other than completion percentage. And it's not obvious there's no benefit until after you've sunk hours into doing them.

You mean using a train, stagecoach, the map in your camp, or cinematic view on your horse? OK, unless you're right by a town, the stagecoach isn't always a time saver (same with the map in your camp). Trains don't go to half the places you need to go. And the cinematic view doesn't speed it up, it just allows you to put the controller down for a second. When half the missions end with you stranded way out in the middle of nowhere, you're left few options. The fast travel map is nice, but you still have to get to camp, be forced to slow walk to wherever the map is (and in Shady Belle it's on the 2nd floor of that damn house), THEN you're finally fast travelling.

Also, the cinematic view still causes issues with running into bounty hunters, accidentally running over a guy and getting a wanted level etc., so it's not a complete auto-pilot mode. Several times I set a waypoint, went to the bathroom and came back to Arthur getting shot up.

I get what you're saying that this isn't a futuristic game with teleporting, but it's still a GAME. I don't play so I have to deal with the same monotony I have to in real life. Just get me to the action.

I just finished the main story this weekend and am now about to start the epilogues.

The game is fantastic so far, but like many others said, it can be slooooooooooooooow as shite at times. And it can be a bit glitchy. I cant tell you how many times I tried to hop on my horse and instead I would tackle an innocent lady and all of a sudden i'm a wanted man getting shot at by the law. It was hilarious, but pretty frustrating at the same time.

Well I'm impressed but find the game ridiculously boring.

I'm on chapter 6. Have most of it left plus the epilogue chapters to go. I just bought RDR GoTY edition to play on my xbox afterwards

I own the same game on PS3, but it looks and runs like arse.
