We had the #6 class after failing to cross the 50 yard line in the national champ game

So no, I dont think this game would have caused a disaster

I'd bet the game had very little impact on any recruit.

Have the Chargers been discontinued?

Your premise is wrong but some of the shine was definitely rubbed off last night.. Next year will be a big year for bama in establishing that they arent going anywhere and that game was an anomaly. History and the talent make this seem to be a near certainty but last night was kink in the armor

Hopefully last night was a sign Saban is going senile

Saban definitely looked as though he aged about 10 years last night. There always comes a time when the game passes a coach by. I remember when that happened to Bobby Bowden. If you are considering going to Alabama, you have to wonder if the program has peaked and is now on a downward slope. You have to wonder when Saban will retire. The mystique is gone.

Meh...it never looked that fun to be a player there, even when they were winning.

Last night looked fun...Clemson is probably extremely appealing to recruits right now. Good thing their current class is just about done.

You think a bunch of kids would decommit after a loss in the NC game?

Recruits are the biggest bunch of bandwagon jumpers you can find. So...yes. Swap out the Crimson colored "We gonna win all the championships" goggles for the latest flavor of the week.

What precedent are you basing that from?

Can you name one school whose class fell apart after losing the NC game?

Recruits don't make their decisions based on wins and losses. It has more to do with their comfort level with a certain coach or school. I know this because I used to executive produce a television show on recruiting. As a result, I have spent hundreds of hours talking with players(Tre White & OJ Howard to name a couple) about every aspect of their views on recruiting and not one ever said I would change their commitment because a team lost the national championship or any other single game.

Yes, disaster was the wrong word. But before the early signing period it would give a few kids pause for thought that maybe Bama isn't a certainty anymore for the playoffs and make it easier for them to go to other top programs. Two or three top recruits a year would definitely start to put a kink in Bama's armour and the possible turning point for other schools to compete talent wise.

The overreaction to one game is insane. Last I checked Bama has still won 5 in Sabans 12 years. Let that sink in. Last night wouldn't have changed anything.

Sabans 2nd class started the #1 trend and last I checked he didn't win year 1.

False! We DID cross the 50 yard line. What kind of a loser LSU fan would propigate this falsehood?

I think Kirby might have run his mouth about LSU being on the decline and him proving it during the season. Probably worked when he was at Bama, but would have obviously backfired this last season.

Of course he might have just changed his mind for who knows what reason.

Not a bunch, but a few that made "business decisions" would.

This is even dumber. The "business decision, is to go to Bama and be paid. I'll show you the surefire first rounders the next 2 years on Bama's starting unit

QB Tua Tagovailoa
WR Jerry Jeudy
OL Jonah Williams
TE Irv Smith Jr
DL Quinnen Williams
DB Deionte Thompson

Those are the surefire but there will likely be 3-4 more added in that group. The amount of 2nd rounders will be crazy though.

Business decision is going to Bama, LSU, Ohio St, UGA, etc.
