Did the early signing period help Bama avoid a disaster?

Normally, signing day is in February, which gives kids time to change their commitment after a game like last night. Now, the kids are locked in by signing early, so the loss might not be that big of deal to a program as it used to be?

Disaster? You think a bunch of kids would decommit after a loss in the NC game?

It's 1 game. Sure it hurts some but something I've noticed about posters on this site is they put too much stock into 1 game. Sucks to say but Bama is still the best program in college football. 1 game doesn't change that.

Maybe not a bunch, but one or two to at least think about jumping ship, absolutely. All it takes is a crying Michael Jordan face meme for a kid to think the school they’re committed to isn’t cool anymore.

HS kids don't make recruiting decisions on wins and losses.

One kid flipping to, I would assume Clemson, wouldn't be a "disaster" for Bama.

Not a bunch, but a few that made "business decisions" would.

By "disaster", do you mean not sign the highest rated class ever?

No, they probably still would have avoided that disaster.

I doubt it.

And even if 1 or 2 kids did flip (and again you have to assume they would flip to Clemson because who else would these kids flip to?), would it really be a "disaster" considering the amount of talent that Bama annually brings in?

Go ask John Emery about changing his mind after seeing LSU beat UGA.

Well, that settles it.

Part of using "come here to win championships" as a primary recruiting strategy is that you have to keep winning them. Bama got destroyed last night. I care what you "doubt." That has at least some impact on an 18 year-old athlete's mindset.

Bama has either lost or not even competed in NC games before and still signed top classes.

Anyone doubt that Bama will be in the playoffs again next year?

This might be the dumbest thing I’ve seen on here.

Saban should easily be able to spin a loss like that into a positive for recruiting. When you lose by 28, there are obviously some holes in your roster.

Also, it gives kids who might have been reluctant to join a champion an easy opportunity to go to Bama without it totally looking like they're just jumping on the bandwagon.

I think the real blessing here is that Clemson has already signed 27 in their class.

After that on field display and then all the post game God/love/family/fun/winning crap, that school must be super appealing right now.

Hopefully last night was a sign Saban is going senile... Hey we can hope.
