Thinking about flying the cheap frontier flight to Providence, RI and then branching out from there.
I've been to Maine and loved it. Probably spend a few days there. Maybe take the ferry to Nova Scotia for a few days.

Nope. No one has ever been to the northeast for a vacation.

I have taken a cruise to New England and eastern Canada. Loved it. Quebec City was my favorite. It is like a mini Paris.

I really enjoyed Newport when I was there. And Boston is a fun city.

Haven't done NE but mostly NYC since I did grow up briefly in NJ. Boston and parts of MA are definitely a bucket list place.
eta: did go to Quebec with my dad when I was 8

Connecticut and Rhode Island are awesome in the summer. My uncle lives up there; there's a lot to do. You can vrbo a beach house in RI or CT along the shore. Mystic, CT is a cool day trip.
I think my favorite part was driving along the back roads back and forth from CT to RI. You'll find one of a kind restaurants and farmers markets to stop at. There are a ton of charming B&Bs, too.

I used to be a rep for Timberland and would go up for meetings via Logan (Boston) then would rent a car.
Great old wooden bridges, (covered), Maple syrup, close to the coast for lobster and chowder. Beautiful part of the country, specially Spring and Early fall.
Stayed a couple of times in Quechee Lakes VT

Im very intrigued by doing Montreal and Quebec City for my wife and I.

For me: Quebec > Montreal
They are about 150 miles apart from each other.

Not sure how expansive you want to make this trip, but you can drive from Burlington to Montreal in less than two hours. I've done this a number of times.

Last summer we started on Cape Cod and did Martha's Vineyard and went up through Maine. Acadia National Park is incredible but very crowded in the summer especially on the weekends.
Ended up back in Boston.

Lived in RI for 5 years. Love it during the summer time. Providence is a great restaurant town. Lots of beach towns. Not a fan of Mystic but I like the Cape.
Checking out Block Island during the summer time is interesting. I’m a big fan of Block Isle.
It’s a big area lots to see.
You can drive down to New London and take a ferry (with your car) over to the hamptons.
New London is about 1 hour south of Province. The ferry is easy and that part of LI is worth seeing.

I would add the Upper Cape is worth a trip, though not as many towns as the Lower Cape. My parents have a spot in Truro and I'll spend most of my time in Provincetown and Wellfleet.

The only problem with Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket is taking the ferry to get there and back cuts into your day. Plus the transportation to get around those places once you get there.
Cape is very crowded on weekends in summer so beware of traffic coming and going during that time.

it looks like frontier is shutting down the providence flight so I may have to fly into boston and start from there.

You’re better off. Trust me.
