I was in the red wing shoe store last year to get my old boots resoled. After I paid for them I decided to walk around the store. They had the exact pair I had just sent in to be resoled in their clearance section for about the same price of my resole. I already have two pairs of Redwings so I didn't need a 3rd pair. But it was tempting. Stop by the store to see if they have anything in your size on clearance.

I wear georgia boot now. soles are separating. I am going to get something new and lighter, but I am def going to send GB a pic of my boots and a note detailing my dissappintment with their product. If they're worth their salt they'll send me a replacement pair that I'll keep as backups.

I have a pair of Justin round steel toes from academy that I paid $100 for. Have held up for about 6 months so far while being extremely comfortable.

I have had a pair of Wolverines for over 5 years now and they are not close to breaking down.

Go to Tom Waters in Baton Rouge. They have a ton of boots, and they give you a beer to drink while shopping.

Wasted about 4 hours yesterday trying to figure this out. Tony Lamas have a weird hump in the arch and are made in china. Justin's feel cheap and are made in china. Red Wing has a couple pairs I like, but both are $225- $250 and i'm hearing they might not hold up. Wolverine and Georgia's aren't made like they used to be.
I can't decide whether to take a chance on some Red Wings or get another pair of Georgia boots for the wet and $100 pair of justins or something for dry.
Also wish there was one place that had a big enough selection that I didn't have to drive all over the place to see my options.

I think all of the big name boot companies make their good stuff in America.

that's what I thought too. I found one style of Justins made in America. I didn't see any TL made in USA. I asked the workers and they seemed to think pretty much all work boots were now made in china.
I got a tip on Thorogood. Supposedly what Red Wing and others used to be. Still all made in the USA and under $200. I am going to try them and if they're as good as i'm hearing, I'll grab 2 pairs in case they move manufacturing to China.

FWIW, Tony Lama TLX and some Justins are made in the US of A. Look at the Justin website. There are about 20 made in Murica
Some Red Wings are made in China just like some Justins and Tony Lamas. Red Wing has gone to glued on soles that cannot be resoled. Look for boots with visible stitching.
These are my Justin 4441s just for the record. Murica
