Assuming Williford is out too

you can probably assume that. i mean, he hasn't been cleared to practice. so, him playing Sat. would be a stretch, regardless of Les mentioning it being a "game time decision."

w/Williford and now maybe Hurst out, that leaves Davenport, Porter, and Hawkins as back-ups.

Those are probably $50 gloves. They can afford to just give them away? Life is different for college students these days I guess? Probably free from athletic dept?

I don't know. Didn't see anybody else give them out that night.

Because Hurst is a player likely to be drafted in the NFL. If he quits because he is ticked at the coaches or some other issue like this...goodbye football career. Nobody will mess with a guy who quits on his team. Its a big NO-NO.

Well since Miles is coaching this team we'll obviously go 0-42 in the next 7 or 8 games.. better to jump ship now.. Draft stock can only skyrocket.

The athletic dept. has gloves to throw away. Same with shoes.

Their supply makes Foot Locker look like a convenience store.

I hope Alex gets it together. Quitting the team now would be one of the 4 or 5 things that, when he is 60, he would look back on and regret. I have my own regrets and one is quitting something in my early 20s.

I get that this is "the Rant." I get that the point of this is to vent and to critique. We all do it. And, no, I have no idea what the "personal issues" are. But I do know this: #72 has been a vital cog of this football team for several years. #72 is a big, strong kid, who by all accounts is a quality teammate and person. #72 is a Tiger.

Let me repeat, #72 is a Tiger.

He is obviously going through some issues that are none of your or my business but they must be serious. And if you call yourself a Tiger fan, you should not spend your time wildly speculating about that which you do not know. I will heed my own words and do likewise. There will be plenty of time to react and pontificate if and when there is real news. But #72 needs some time. And even though we have no idea what is wrong, other than that something is wrong, we should respect the kid and the team and let them handle it.
You sir are a gentleman and a scholar. I'm glad we have some level heads on the Rant.

I wouldnt be surprised if his personal issue was calling out the offensive game plan being complete shite and Miles sending him home for a day

First thing is quitting in the middle of the season is no way to get into the NFL. I believe these are indeed personal issues and everyone needs to back off.

Seems like this is more personal/familial than team related.

anyone think this personal issue may have something to do with the alleged concussion he suffered last week?

Maybe the kid and his family are worried about his injury with all this concussion awareness spreading through the media like wildfire? just a thought. hopefully it gets worked out.

Williford was the OL who had the concussion from a blindside hit on Mett's INT.

I guess this explains your post in thread about why ticket prices are going for face value

Williford (RG) had the concussion, not Hurst (RT)

Man,
If he quit there is something major wrong with this team. It does appear something is wrong and it appears Miles' players have enough of wasting talent. Now Hurst has not played well because my opinion is that he is a much better guard than tackle, simple as that!!!

After reading this, I am now convinced more than ever that many of the posters here were not alive during Curley Hallman's tenure in Baton Rouge.

It isn't possible.

If they had been alive then- judging by their actions after one loss now- they'd have likely committed suppuku.
