Let's be fair: If Kling is a miss, then the industry missed. He was ranked as high as the #51 overall draft prospect his Sr. year of high school. There is not one college coach in the country that would not have been overjoyed to get Paxton Kling on campus.
i wont disagree, but i didnt miss on him... i couldnt stand the swing from the get go... Bear was the same way (second half of last year and beginning of this year) he didnt release the barrel, then he started to and boom, he could hit bad pitching...

We are missing older program guys. We have Milazzo and Travinski and that’s it. Last year we had Beloso, Dugas, Travinski was a 4th year guy last year. So was Jobert. Guys that maybe were all americans year three but were there and producing year 4-5.
Milazzo hit. .226 as a Jr.
And some of those guys were high end recruits. sometimes it just takes time.
And if you look at the recruiting classes that should be those guys.
2020 was too good. Crews, Morgan, Floyd, thompson, Edwards and Money all got drafted last year. Hellmers and Coleman are the only guys left from that class are Hellmers and Coleman and they were not the top end guys.
2021 is a rough. Grant got drafted but we’re really left with Dutton and Pearson coming out of that class.
And we wanted those 2021 guys to produce. Well Jones looks like a really good Sophmore. Shores is out. Noot is out. Guidry is a pitcher. So we’ve got Paxton Kling and Neal who were high promise players who aren’t delivering. But they’re sophmore.
Like I said above, a huge chunk of our championship team didn’t produce as sophmores.

At any rate gone are the days when a few ole Louisiana boys from places throughout the state told Mom/Dad they would like to go to LSU and play baseball and tryout for a scholarship! No sir…..those days are pretty much over cuz the folks in charge gotta deal through that thing called a portal of which it means the coach can import folks from Timbuckto and Jack-Rabbit Egypt! They don’t give a tinkers damn about LSU or its historical records in baseball or understand how our residents think about past records!

He’s athletic for a regular 6’2 200lb guy. He’s not very athletic for a 6’2 200lb Division 1 athlete.

Are you actually dumb enough to think we could recruit mostly LA kids and win a NC in baseball in 2024 and one of the reason why is because those kids grew up fans and know the history of LSU baseball?

This is how I know you're either trolling or stupid.
It's like you didn't even notice Skenes offensive game plummeted at LSU under Coach Johnson!

quote:Yeah this was an odd statement. The only relevant thing about LSU's history is that it's a known titan in the sport (like Alabama or Ohio State in football, Kansas or Duke in basketball etc). We have a large commitment to the program, so if you come, you should be seeing the best equipment and gear, and coincidentally should get a good NIL deal.quote:

Our climate/weather should be conducive to good playing conditions the entire season, instead of dealing with cold early on.
We've been "importing talent" for a long time, which is why we've been so good. Nobody (with any sense) is offended that Skenes, Crews, White, or Berry, or Bregman etc came here and did well.

Sorry JJ was ahead of schedule and won a NC in year 2.

We do. But injuries have claimed them temporarily. ie Noot, Shores, Primeaux, & Bronzini. And don’t forget, Johnson & Moffett & Anderson who have been coming on.
Larson, Brown, Milam & Ruddell are all excellent players but they lack experience.
The need to add experience to the roster will work itself out.
I don’t believe we have leaned on the portal too heavily. Let’s face it some have worked out great…others not so much.
This has been an extremely rough schedule for a team with so many sophomores and freshmen playing in the line up.
Patience grasshopper.

Ok, this narrative needs to end. It's an average SEC schedule. Nothing more. We played Florida and lost 2 of 3 at home. Florida is 19-17 overall and 7-8 in the SEC. Lost series to Miss State and Vandy; State is 7-8, and the only reason Vandy isn't below .500 in conference is because they beat us in the Box.
LSU will play SEC teams every year, because we're in that conference. And LSU SHOULD expect to win series against teams struggling to stay above .500 in the conference. Especially home series. Because we're not just an SEC team, we're supposed to be one of the elite, premier programs in the SEC and in ALL of college baseball. If Arkansas is ranked #1 and we go play them, that's supposed to be a must-see event.
You're not going to see Alabama try to shrug off a terrible football season by saying "oh, we're ok, we're just young and the schedule is extremely rough". The schedule is what you knew it would be, and every team has to follow the same rules for filling the rosters. Nobody keeps elite players a decade, this isn't MLB or the NFL.

Lol
Arkansas 12-3
Tennessee 10-5
Vandy 8-7
Florida 7-8
Miss State 7-8
That's 2 teams (Arkansas and Tennessee) near the top, and 3 that are middle of the pack. Again, this is the fricking SEC, there are supposed to be ranked teams every year. We're supposed to be one of them. We've played 2 teams in the top 4, one in the teens, and 2 currently unranked.
Missouri, who we're so excited to play, has played Arkansas, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Florida and Georgia. That's also 2 in the top 4 (actually top 3), and 2 other ranked teams. That's a tougher schedule. And they've won 2 more games than we have.
Ole Miss, another supposed "easy" opponent, has played South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, and Miss State. 3 of the Top 4, another ranked team, and yet Ole Miss has won 2 more games than we have.
Alabama has played Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, Kentucky and Arkansas. 3 teams in the top 4, all 5 are ranked. Alabama has won 3 more games, and is still ranked 18.
The only team we're ahead of is Auburn, who has played A&M, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee and Vandy. We're ONLY ahead of them 1 game, and they've only played ranked opponents, including the current Top 4. And they've taken 2 games from teams that swept us. If they had OUR schedule, they may be ahead of us.
So cry me a fricking river about our schedule; we've had one of the easier ones, and we're still behind all but one team.

I remind people
of this thread all the time.
the 2021 class just isn’t there
AND the 2020 class was 100% boom bust. a lot of great players that are in the Minors now or not SEC quality players that are on other teams.
so basically our entire upper class is transfers and Dutton, pearson, Coleman and Hellmers.
