Sambuca - What to buy?

I was at a dinner the other night and one of the ladies asked for a chilled Sambuca, as an after dinner drink. I asked, what is that? Her reply was try it. I tried it and really enjoyed it for an after dinner drink. My question is what should I buy. I checked a couple online sites and the price is all over the place. Anyone have any suggestions as to what brand to buy? TIA.

Romana is what I typically see being served at restaurants. I've never bought a bottle.

Sambuca is a great apéritif/ digestif, and if you like anise falvored liquors, you may want something a little bit more flavorful and adventurous. Strega is much more complex and the flavor lingers on the palate much longer than most other anisettes.

Romana in the freezer at home. Looking to see if anyone else has a rec. Love the buca.

You can try Ouzo as well. Basically the only difference is one's Italian and the other is Greek

Buy some coffee beans. Smash one just a bit and add it to your glass before you pour. Thank me later.

Some places put 3 coffee beans in glass for good luck

I’m such a backwards hick that I’d never heard of it and didn’t know how to drink it when I first encountered it. We were at a nicer Italian place and were served sambuca and some other drink with desert. Each had the three coffee beans in the glass. I shot them both. I’m an idiot.

We’ve always shot the sambuca after dinner, beans and all

Try Romana Black Sambuca. It's not as sharp as the regular Sambuca.

Generally speaking ouzo tends to be a little drier and sambuca a little sweeter - or maybe that's just me.

I bought an unopened bottle of Strega at an estate sale for $2. Didn't know what it was. Found out that I do not like anise flavored liquors.
