The vast majority of posters wanted Lincoln Riley or Aranda or maybe Kiffin. Now y'all are saying you really wanted Kelly?

If I knew he was a real possibility, 100% yes.

Most definitely Kelly is the white whale. . The only way ND got Freeman was to add title of coach in waiting. I believe Woodward has had this in the works for a long long time. Nothing against O he just wanted his guy at the helm. I wouldn’t be surprised if one of Kelly staff members will be a head coach in waiting at LSU.

I never made a choice for a coach. It's dumb to do that. Sets you up for disappointment when your guy doesn't get the job - particularly given that you don't know any of the information pertinent to the hire.
But Kelly was one of the coaches I thought we should absolutely make say no if there was the slightest chance.
Herbstreit got all the Notre Dame fans absolutely hating him earlier this season when he said again and again that USC ought to be going after Kelly.
