Matt Rhule & The David Tepper Factor
Posted on 11/29/21 at 12:33 pm

David Tepper is the billionaire hedge fund manager who owns his first and only sports franchise, the Carolina Panthers, and has limitless resources. When he hired Rhule, he said he wanted a guy who could lead his team for 30-40 years and build a program like other great NFL dynasties. Then reality set in.
Just like Steve Cohen (another billionaire hedge fund manager) bought the New York Mets and immediately went to work reshaping the organization after feeling incredible fan pressure to change the team's losing ways, Tepper and Rhule are already feeling the heat given how badly the season has gone.

How about a reputable paper - The Charlotte Observer - questioning the Panthers' coaching and that Joe Brady shouldn't be with a job much longer: LINK
People are starting to talk. Tepper has to be feeling the heat and realizing that much like other great college coaches who weren't cut out for the NFL ranks, maybe it's time to cut his losses and start fresh. The college QB crop is thin. Maybe Rhule really doesn't like the NFL like he thought he would.
The time is now for Matt Rhule to help both LSU and the Panthers save face with a graceful exit and benefits for all parties involved. One thing is for certain - Tepper won't be rushing to keep Rhule should LSU come calling given the tremendous pressure that's building.

Why doesn't Matt help the Panthers get passed the 50 yard line. He's a genius, Brady is a genius... but they can't get passed the 50 yard line.
What is Shula, God of football? frick, even Shula had horseface moving the ball.

True that Tepper has a lot of money..but he knows nothing about football or the nuances thereof.

That's why I think he's more apt to think like Steve Cohen did with the Mets and not worry about making tough decisions if things aren't working out (i.e. let Rhule bow out gracefully by taking the LSU job), especially if the rumors are true that Rhule's heart really isn't in the NFL game.

A Billionaire that knuckles under to fan tweets and a newspaper sports page, has no business owning a NFL franchise

Feel like the articles could be coming out in anticipation that hes going to be the LSU coach so makes the Panthers look like they wanted him canned. I think he wouldve gotten another season in carolina

All that newspaper articles about Rhule and his Panthers said everything but the facts.
When an NFL team has no QB (see Sean Payton), then all kinds of problems surface.
