Was Riley offered or not is the key question

If not, then a good candidate likely awaits. If he was, then LSU is likely scrambling and compromising with a lower tier guy.

And I’m not sure there’s clear evidence either way.

The Fickell hire will tell you No.

The Aranda hire would tell you Yes.

I know shea has said that there really wasn’t a ton of legs to the LR stuff outside of some contact and interest but no offer.

Almost certainly he was. My guess is Woodward was as caught off-guard at the Lincoln to USC as we were.

I have to believe woodward was telling our recruits and players it was riley.

Why were they all following riley all of a sudden?

My guess was that Woodward reached out and Riley made it clear he had no interest. We found out today he didn’t want to coach in the sec so I’m sure he shut down Woodward pretty quickly

If he’s scared of the SEC like it’s being portrayed by all of the talking heads then he was likely upfront about it or hinted to it and the conversation with Woodward probably ended there. NO WAY Woodward would bring in someone that even hints they are up for playing big boy football.

Which it’s all shaping up to be just that. LR wants no part in the daily grind of the SEC. He wants to shine in his small conference and have an easy path to playoffs every year.

LSU doesn’t need someone like that! Despite the fact that he would have crushed it here if he had a set of pecans between his legs

This is a nuanced question. In the real world AD's want to say they were not turned down, even if they were. So No Official Offer is made unless the target has agreed to sign the offer letter. All terms are agreed with an agent, usually verbally, until everyone is satisfied that a contract will be signed.

No one will say an offer has been made to anyone except the person that they hire. So get over it.

If he wasn’t offered and clearly he was available, that looks worse imo

“Offered” or offered?

He may have been offered in principle, but I highly doubt an official offer went out.
