I agree on their best day they can win and it all comes down to the team that performs the best on the day

If only they can find what the 2017 team had on Day 1 of the Finals. They didn't hit quite as strong in the Super 6 but it took a herculean performance by Oklahoma to win the title on Saturday. One of these days all the stars will align perfectly and they will finally kick in the door to the championship room.

I still get chills thinking about that floor rotation. It was SO jaw-droppingly good.

Unfortunately, floor was also our undoing on Day 2, when Ewing stepped out of bounds on our very first routine of the day.

All the best to the gymnasts at SEC! Look forward to an exciting competition.

The 2016 final rotation vault got me emotional just the sheer refusal to be denied. They came within a hair of rising from the dead to win the title, if you could just bottle that moment.

Scoring on floor was somewhat inconsistent in the first session. No way should Worley have scored higher than Celestine or Moore. And my highlight of that session was Moore on vault. Also, the Yurchenko fulls did not score well in the session. Makes me a little worried.

The commentator on this BigTen meet might be the worst I've heard across all sports. She stinks.

That’s a former All-American for the University of Michigan, Olivia Karas. She’s still relatively new to the commentating business but is one of the few commentators I’ve found who isn’t biased, calls out the deductions when there are deductions, but also didn’t over commentate during routines. I think she’s doing a pretty great job in my opinion to be honest.

It’s a long meet - but we probably need someone else to make a mistake to have a shot at this thing

We've got a major headache on bars.

Yes we struggled bad on bars. Uncharacteristic mistakes. We haven't had these mistakes since before Jay Clark came to LSU. I don't think they're focused enough.

The way things look atm with results to be confirmed looks like we are in the regional of death as have dropped below bama in nqs so are 6th. At the moment Michigan #3 , Lsu #6 ,Missouri #11 and ucla #14 plus geographically linked teams - hoping that things change but that’s how things are as they stand don’t think pac12 second meet is finished yet

Very sad performance today, but this is the result we deserved.

Seems to me this team has a lack of leadership, which says a lot because all year this "Super" Senior leadership group has been championed and all that.
How many big meets can happen when they show up and are not focused?

It's also on the coaching staff. However, you can't fire Jay no matter how stubborn he is, how mediocre of a coach he is, and how poor of a line-up manager he is. If you fire Jay, we risk losing commits. If we lose the commits, we risk going back to being what we were before he got here and started getting us talent. While we have the best facilities and all of that, I don't think we are quite at that level where LSU Gym recruits itself. He is one hell of a recruiter and the truth is that most girls are coming to play for him.

If you fire him, you risk losing Konnor and she could very well be an Olympic Gold Medalist by the time she gets on campus.

I don’t think anyone even conceivably thinks Woodward would fire Clark right now - I just hope he uses this season as a wake up call. They started doing some good things - easier leaps on beam which has helped tremendously and two-pass floor routines - but he as much as the girls has got to get out of his own way.

I have been thinking - maybe he always knew it wasn’t realistic to think they could win a championship this year which is why he has done super slow pacing with vault, etc - it’s a hard sport because you can kind of tell if you’ll be in contention or not - so maybe he is playing a long game? I am not sure that is something that he should do (always have to play to win), but maybe it is what he is doing. It would explain some decisions this year.

Would Jay have the guts to put AJ on bars in a potential UCLA meet? Could be spicy

Oh man. I somehow forgot about that - that’s a whole other layer.

From Covid in the beginning to the AJ situation, this whole season feels unlucky at best to a debacle at worst.

Is there anything that isn’t blamed on the super seniors ?!?!? You have absolutely no idea what goes on when it comes to leadership. Was this the worst meet ever, yes. It wasn’t all the super seniors. If you want to criticize gymnasts I wish they weren’t grouped together. I happen to think Christina has been a rock star. She has hip shoulder and ankle issues but still gives everything she’s got. She WILL be missed in the lead off on two events! Bridget has been a rock on beam and Sami has been a rock on bars her entire career. Everyone makes mistakes as we saw tonight. I’m so sick of these poor girls being talked about like they’re trash !!!
