Minus the Jameis years, Jimbo lost to 10 unranked teams over 6 seasons with top 5 nationally ranked recruiting classes each year — a massive conference talent advantage, even over Clemson.

Given his record at atm, I see no indication he’s changed from that well established pattern.

ETA: if it’s between Kiffin and Jimbo, I’d roll with Kiffin 10 times out of 10.

How so? By pulling the 4th and 3rd ranked classes respectively in the SEC in the next 2 years? No, I don’t keep up with recruiting anymore because drama queens like you have ruined it and I’m sure you’re melting over whichever hot name committed to A&M last week with no regard for the big picture. He had better classes year in and year out at Florida State and he was still getting the same mediocre results on the field post-Jameis which was basically the beginning of his career.

The “A&M trending upward” meme has been something that their fanbase has repeated EVERY YEAR since they got into the SEC, and some of y’all have religiously gone along with it for whatever reason even though it isn’t true in the only metrics that matter. A&M isn’t a winner and never will be

they’re 8-3 with 3 losses to mediocre teams and the wins sure as frick aren’t because of Calzada. Beating Alabama this season isn’t a huge accomplishment, we were 10 yards away from doing the same.

Agreed. Beating bama this year is nothing special. We outplayed them in Tuscaloosa and Arkansas was also close to beating them on the road. They’re clearly not what they’ve been.

Jimbo will always recruit really well and he will always lose games he’s not supposed to. Like death and taxes my friend.

I would be happy with either, but the recruiting is interesting. Jimbo is putting together one hell of a class, and Kiffin has Ole Miss 38th in the country right now.

Jimbo is one of the 4 elite-elite recruiters in the game. The other 3 are Nick Saban, Kirby Smart, and Ryan Day. It's not a remotely realistic prospect, but half the point of stealing Jimbo would be keeping him away from our division mate located in one of our key recruiting areas. A&M as a program is a major, major problem for LSU long term.

Kiffin just isn't that good. He's not a guy that's going to ever get guys that Alabama, A&M, or Georgia actually want. Recruiting is the life blood of college football, and he just doesn't do it at a level that will ever let him not need to "do more with less". A common joke in the Georgia fanbase right now is "I don't know why the other teams don't just have their linebackers be DL/LBer/DB hybrids", and while Kirby Smart's scheme is very innovative, they're not wrong to point out that it really only works because the linebackers are athletic enough to cover the pass part of the RPO while being in position to make the R a short gain. I'm not sure if Kiffin has the stomach for it after how horrific his Raiders experience was, but he truly, truly should go to the NFL as either a HC or offensive coordinator. It fits him as a coach a lot better than college does.

Wisconsin is debatable, but A&M 1000% beats Iowa's arse. Iowa ever being ranked in the top 4 was a joke. They're bad. ~20th best defense with a bottom 20 offense. Iowa-A&M would look a lot like Iowa-Wisconsin.
