I get the fact that some people are so invested in a tv show or a movie or even a fandom that they are willing to put up with a celebrities conduct as long as the product is produced and the fans get their fix. Enjoy

If you don't use/buy/interact with any product that you disagree with you'd be fricked.

Do you not wear any clothes made in china or Bangladesh, likely by some kid in a sweatshop getting the shite beat out of him

I thought Rebuplicans hated cancel culture?

Is this thread actually related to M/TV other than it being an actor expressing a non-entertainment related opinion? I’m confused as to the actual purpose and content this board “should” cater to.

Is Rittenhouse auditioning for a Mando role?

But y’all always bring this shite here so then I see it. Please stop.

Whats brilliant about this thread is that announcing you aren't watching anymore is pretty self-centered.

But it is the right call, but anyone in this thread talking down to someone because they make this kind of moral choice, or specifically say that an actor's beliefs "don't matter," are a part of the whole problem. While there was a time in this world where that was probably true. It isn't anymore, especially with elites, money and power.

Now if you agree with Pascal, well that's a different argument. But if you disagree with Pascal and his opinions, but think his opinions "don't matter," well there's a rude awakening coming for you at some point. He will fund, empower, create and market things that are antithetical to your beliefs, and he will do it aggressively (this kind of opinion is already a sign of his rash mindset). He will help people who hate you, and he will use his money and power to do it.

Unfortunately, that's where we are, and unfortunately, these kinds of beliefs do matter.

Stop letting people in Hollywood’s opinions get to you, we all know 90% lean left. If they put out a good movie or TV show just enjoy it. Unless Mando talks about politics or something in the show, it has no impact

Why? It's called my choice. I'm not telling you or anyone else to stop funding Pedro's celebrity. That's your choice.

While all of that is perfectly within your right to do so, that’s going to be a hard standard to live up to.

Finding any movie or TV show from Hollywood that doesn’t share similar views to Pedro is going to be tough to find (which I agree is unfortunate)

You need to re-reed my OP. I have a problem with the double standard that Gina Carano got fired for having an opinion while Pedro makes incendiary comments and will get away with it.

I clearly said Pedro is entitled to his opinion. I don't agree with it but it's his right. People have the right to disagree with it.

I agree with you. I focused in on the idea of whether or not it's a good idea to watch/support him - or that concept with those who vehemently disagree - as that is where you were getting a lot of flack.

You're ok with him having his own opinion, as we should all be, but do you want to support it via the Mandolorian? It's a VERY valid question, not one that should be brushed aside or get you called a Karen or something. We live in different times where elite media power isn't there to simply provide entertainment.

This is my biggest issue with it.

I get that some people will disagree with things that are happening - way too many people in this country to agree 100% on, well, anything - but you have to be fair. If one person gets in trouble for expressing a political opinion, so should others (presuming, of course, your "political" opinion isn't something like "kill all white/black people" or "it's okay to have sex with kids/corpses", etc - though I wouldn't really call those "political" opinions)

Personally, if I was running a company where certain individuals are basically the "face" of the product, I'd have them sign a disclaimer stating that they'll keep their political opinions to themselves.

She isn't, and I'm guessing it isn't.

Pascal calling Rittenhouse a murderer is exactly the same as the majority of the country calling OJ a murderer for the past 25 years.

Carano wasn't fired for making a single political statement. She was fired after a string of statements that appeared to be intentionally provoking Disney to fire her. Good for her, she got to make her point. Disney didn't care about her politics, they cared about how many resources they had to devote to the pr headache of someone comparing getting yelled at on Twitter to the oppression and mass murder of an ethnic group.

If Pascal becomes a similar headache, they'll fire him too.
