A&M Game with my son...

We live out of state and I'm bringing my son to his first LSU game. I was thinking of getting on campus several hours before the game. Do you guys recommend eating at Chimes or somewhere else and if so how early should we get there?

The chimes is great but it will be super packed on game day. Prepare for a long wait… look into stopping at Parrains. It’s on Perkins not to far from campus and owned by the same people as the chimes

Lincoln Riley will be cooking up some brisket in front of the PMAC

Chimes is always a good place. Not sure what time you would want to get there though probably around 12:30-1 (maybe earlier) then you can walk around campus and take him to see Mike and gift shops and what not.

With it being Thanksgiving weekend who knows what attendance will be like
Chimes should be fine, may have to wait for lunch but game is not till 6
If Chimes is too crowded you could always hit up some of the other places within walking distance
Take him to Union bookstore for all the shirts and any type of merchandise you want
Try and be close to stadium where band and players come down is always fun and go see Mike the Tiger and the gift shop by stadium
It's senior day so get in stadium a little early for pregame and to honor the seniors

Chimes is fun and with outdoor area, has more seating. You can put your name in for a table, and hangout around the bar area, as those tables near the bar are usually first come first serve.

The Chimes is cool but probably lost on him if he is under 12. Regardless, the union food court area is a good spot for kids as they can sit for a bit and watch some early games. There is also food (albeit rather average to shitty) from vendors in front of the PMAC and you can kill two birds and watch the team and band come down the hill before going into the stadium.
If you go into the stadium early and are in the lower level, you can walk down close to the field for early warmups. My kids loved that shite.

If Chimes is too packed I've been to City Slice on Chimes St. Good pizza, lots of beer to choose from and plenty to TVs

I like the chimes more than most but it's not worth the lines/wait you'll likely have to deal with IMO

They still have a bookstore in the student union? I’ve been buying stuff at Barnes and noble next to Union. Bookstore in Union was much cheaper than anywhere else. At least it was 50 years ago!

The wait is just as bad. Go to the bar and stake out a table. Better yet, go into bar in separate door from outside and stand by door. You get the jump on fools waiting at hall next to bar.

There's also a Pluckers about half a mile from the Stadium if he's more into the kids' meal kind of thing (wings, fries, chicken tenders, burgers, etc..)
Gf and I always end up at Walkons tho since it's so close to the tailgates

Yea, 50 years ago I was boozin' and cruisin' down Highland Road. And we would be talkin' bout Round The Corner, DeFatta's Italian and Pitt Grill as great restaurants.

Orgeron will be selling shrimp-on-a-stick in front of the P-mac until he has to clock-in and go next door.
