Pretty sure the ratings have increased each week despite allegedly alienating fans.
Outside of the M/TV board and whitecloaks, its pretty well received.
I do really hope that they take some of what people are saying to heart and try to tone things down a bit.

I’m just looking forward to the people who supposedly hate the show to stop watching.
And I dont think anyone on this sub loves the show. Most of us think it’s got highs and lows and would be a lot better if it had a bigger budget and 10 episodes.

Lots of people are liking it though. You and others hating it doesn't count any more than the rest of us.

None of those changes seemed unforgivable the most jarring comment does make since to help replace Matt in that sense.
Honestly, having matt already back in Tar Valon (this is a guess since he is done for this season) could be helpful in terms of having to split up / get a jump on some storylines.

I don't like soccer, think its a horrendously boring sport so ya know what? I've never once clicked on or read a single topic on that board.
I really don't understand why all the people that hate it have to continuously try to convince everyone else who is enjoying it to join their side.

The spoilers are out there on reddit for the final episode. If stuff happens like they say, holy shite that show runner has completely gone off the rails.

Tarwin’s Gap is gonna piss off people the most. Really the only spoiler I had an immediate negative reaction to.
I’ll withhold judgment till I see it tho. They might be trying to slow play rand’s immense power.
I’m really looking forward to the reworked scene at the eye with a certain someone being added.

The one big spoiler about a certain character's death is going to be much ado about nothing.
The character clearly isn't dead based on the leaks, and its likely the MacGuffin they are using for the Hunt in S2.

ya, actually pretty smart if it plays out like that given Matt's departure.

I didnt read the spoilers in detail, but from my vague impressions:
Have no real issue with the Tarwin's Gap scene, at least from Rand's perspective. He has plenty of huge moments upcoming, including far more important ones in season 2. Plus, I actually didnt really like how it worked in the books with Rand just kind of magically appearing and saving the day with no real clue of what he was actually doing. Would prefer they upgrade his knowledge level in season 2 which would lead into the Falme/Stone of Tear stuff.
Biggest Rand issue is the leaving post Eye. Makes no sense to sideline Rand off on his own, especially after how much they backgrounded him throughout season 1. Also makes no sense why Moiraine would allow this. Book 2 Moiraine "allows" Rand off the leash to basically jedi mind trick him, plus Verin was following close behind. This seems like she lets Rand go off completely alone with no supervision. We'll see how it plays into season 2, but that was my one big issue.
Nothing else was really all that surprising or shark jumping so to speak.

Under 24 hours now.
For the most part, I think I understand the changes - I'll see how it plays out on screen. Some people will definitely be pissed, I don't completely blame them as it seems like a lot really had that as a big scene in their heads.
End of book 1 never really held much of a place for me in terms of big moments honestly so as long as everyone gets their time, I understand.

Seems from my perspective they're going to just merge the plots of Books 2 and 3 into one

2 and 3, and 4-5 are the most easily combined books IMO.
6-7 should be pretty easy as well but you have to have Dumai's Wells at the end.

Who would accompany Rand in his runaway or would he just be by himself? It was loial and the violence sniffer guy originally, right?
Posted on 12/23/21 at 11:15 am to Rand AlThor
Yeah I can see that, just think its a mistake to not have Rand more involved. Not sure it works well if he spends most of season 2 on his own.
Also, we still have gotten pretty much nothing in terms of Rand/Moiraine or Rand/Lan, 2 of the most important relationships in the series.

Q&A with Rafe and Alvaro today on Insta.
He flat out says they knew they would lose hardcore book fans because of the changes that they made, but he couldn't really care about that (my words, not his). His marching orders were to appeal to as many people as possible, so he knew he would lose huge fans of the books or complete non-fantasy people.

Rand/Lan is one I missed season 1.
I must have missed the leaked part about Rand on his own from the link.
I felt like you had a really easy split opportunity in Book 2 with the whole portal stone thing. Rand and whoever portal away, the characters who go to Two Rivers stick with Perrin on the way to Falme and do the whitecloaks thing.
Rand and co. portal back and end up near Caemlyn or Tear and so he goes on to tear (as influenced by Selene, dreams etc.) for the big showdown in the stone. He finds some Aiel.
Would really just need to decide who goes where in terms of Matt and girls not named Egwene.
With Matt likely already in Tar Valon, he could maybe have to be fully separated from dagger, do fight scene, take a note to the queen and get all that going.

Yeah I hear ya. I honestly think they could solve for all of it fairly well in time for it to matter.
Basically, merge Falme and Tear’s plots. Rand heads to tear to try and see if he can take Callandor. Meet Selene along the way. Have Rand duel “TDO” for the second time in the sky at tear, win, then take Callandor and declare himself the dragon.
The rest of the cast quasi follows Rand but also hunts the horn at the same time, and Mat blows the horn at the battle that happens at Tear rather than Falme.
Can even bring the Seanchan to Tear rather than Falme.
The only piece I’m not sure about is how you’d handle Egwene, Nynaeve and Elaine spending enough time at the tower to become accepted before they go get involved in all this. Maybe they just have them spend the whole season at the tower and then use the ways or a portal stone or something to get to Tear fast for the showdown.
Post the battle at Tear, they can have downtime at Tear where they do some of the stuff that happens at the beginning of TGH and TDR. Rand can train with Lan and be advised by Moiraine, all before they head to the wastes.

Oh man I don't really know how I feel about that final episode. Some questions for what direction Some stuff ia going for season 2.
Overall, solid effort on on season. Nice to have wheel of time excitement again.

Don’t know what to think. I’ll say this. Seeing the Seachen on screen was the highlight of the season for me. Looked scary as f. I’m divorcing my enjoyment of this tv show from the books. They are obviously chartering their own path. Let’s see how this plays out over 3 seasons or so. We will know what we have by then.
