That's a pretty wild choice for that position. I wonder if it'll somehow help Louisiana get prioritized for some projects? (the actual infrastructure part that is a small part of the bill)

Its not that much in Louisiana, but considering what they ARE spending, it does make Mitch Landrieu the most powerful man in Louisiana for a time.
