Number one draft pick that is a fat, overweight pussy

GM after GM that fails to construct a roster than can be a playoff team in a league where more than half the teams make the playoffs

Organization in a city that has some of the best culture in America, yet gave us the name of Pelicans instead of Krewe or something else cool

Terrible color scheme. Red and Blue like half of the league? Perfect opportunity for Green, purple, and Gold.

Awful Alternate edition Jerseys

The removal of our dance team. Honey Bees used to be smoking

Fire this entire fricking front office and start a new. Sue the fricking Jazz to give us our name back. Show a little heart and fight.

You forgot the worst part: crappy "fans" who don't support the team and whine about petty stuff like the team colors.

I just don’t understand the constant injuries issues with organization among our best players.

Eric Gordon
Ryan Anderson
Anthony Davis
Jrue Holiday
Demarcus Cousins
Brandon Ingram
Zion Williamson

It’s honestly a theme going back even further to Chandler and that era. Team had a magical run and then couldn’t stay healthy.

Some of those have decent explanations though.

AD is made of glass and it hasn’t changed in LA.

Eric Gordon was injury prone coming to us

Jrue Holiday had the extent of his injury lied to us

Demarcus, I’m 98% convinced had to do with Gentry’s system and the insane minutes we put on him before the tear. Guy went from his rather normal Kings system into Gentry’s insane pace for pace’s sake system and was getting ridden insane minutes. And Achilles can be one of those cumulative type injuries.

Crappy fans that watch the team start 7 games below .500 in the first month every year with no motivation from the FO to change?

Yes those fans

1. pelican is state bird.
krewe is mardi gras local.
state identity allows more people to feel identity with team. and the people i hung with in lake charles are baptists. no empathy with a drunken party.
2. most of your post is interesting because it models political posts.
false attribution.
the idea that the org. hates winning says youve drunk too much political koolaid. its the kind of bs partisan politics throws at libs on td political board.
3. in particular your complaint that zion was a bad choice years ago because hes out of shape now suggests you are a troll.
95% of nba fans and nba mgmt would have taken zion.
maybe 98%.
i wanted morant because i had followed his Murray State play and i value a great point guard over a guy whom i saw do doodley squat for duke in ncaas whereas morant showed up with even better numbers than regular season.
morant was the only guy ever to avg 20 and 10 in college. cp3 had more assists but way fewer points.
anyway anti-zion is a terrible way to start your rant. out of 100 posters predraft only I and 2 other guys had morant first. hampton got a little support.
whole thread topic is bs.
boo. you troll.

if you play a game involving jumping high as you can the legs and feet take a beating.
if you play a game that requires changing direction to play defense the tendons in knees and Achilles are stressed.
and sometimes people step on you or you step on them.
how about knees hitting?

and everyone is different.
many great players lost their ideal physical ability in high school or college.
your complaint of holiday being dealt to pels knowing he was injured is eternal. horse traders did that in the year 1830. he turned out to be wonderful. i find it astonishing anyone could complain about holiday. i dont know that deal but whatever it cost was worth it.

There was so much excitement when the Pels signed Cousins. The organization does things to make fans excited, but it’s never been a sustainable thing.

This can be said about the Clippers who's list would be just as long and star studded. I'm not saying it's normal, but it isn't unique.

OP wants to make a statement about winning then talks about colors and how he likes to dance. Also, you know that we tried to get the Jazz name back when the Benson's bought the team and the Jazz owner said no. Go back to the Poli board with the rest of the idiots.

The Pelicans have had a decent roster for a long time and very little results due to injuries.

As much as everyone likes to hate on the organization about general talent it is not fair. The current team is extremely talented and would be a very good team without injury.

The Gordon, Holiday, Evans, Davis, Anderson team should have been really good.

The Holiday, Davis, Cousins, Melli team should have been extremely good.

It's because the ownership doesn't care about winning. Gayle Benson doesn't give an actual shite about the Pelicans. They're a revenue stream. She's not going to invest the extra millions it takes to get them to be competitive as it means nothing to her.

People will be like "oh she talks about them a lot!" She inherited this team from her husband who just bought them because he was already a billionaire sports owner in New Orleans and it made financial sense.

Keep in mind that player salary spending only accounts like for like 40-50% of a small market team's expenditures. People always talk to the Pelicans middle of the pack payroll and say "see, they're not being the cheapest!" The rest of the spend is investments in coaching, training, nutrition, management, scouts, admins, facilities. All the little things that make an operation efficient, intelligent, and desirable.

I don't know anything about what Gayle is or isn't spending, but it's clear that the Pelicans being a winner isn't a priority to her. So it's safe to assume she's likely not going all out on the non-required costs in a way that would produce a competitive squad.

You're sounding ridiculous when Gayle has been the exact opposite of what you're saying.

It's because of her thar Tom Benson bought the hornets in the first place. She's the one who invested into an updated facility and new team doctors, therapists, trainers, coaches, etc.

Tom's baby was the Saints, he gave 0 shits about the Pelicans. It's clear and obvious Gayle puts in a lot of effort about the Pelicans.

How can it be clear to you what her priority is if you admit you are completely ignorant of what is being done?

The team spent I believe $10-$15 million on a new practice facility that at the time it was built (a year or 2 after Tom Benson bought the team) was considered a top 5 practice facility.

The team also has never had this many coaches or executives on staff.

Speaking of lots of coaches, the team also just ate SVG's salary after only 1 year because it wasn't working. If that doesn't say the team values winning more than money (to a certain extent obviously) then I don't know what will convince you.

Remember where the team came from. Jeff Bower and a video subscription was the scouting department. At one point Bower was coaching too like a modern day Jackie Moon. Is Mrs. Benson like Mark Cuban? Maybe not, but this fan base knows what cheap looks like, and cheap looks nothing like the Pelicans.

How can you possibly look at the results on the court for the last decade of Pelicans basketball and honestly think this team is a priority? How many games does Gayle attend?

It's purely a revenue stream.

We honestly have a rather elite fanbase considering the garbage franchise we have to root for.
