Is “mental health” the ultimate excuse?

So in todays world, it seems like “mental health” can be use for any excuse. People are always blaming “mental health” for laziness, alternatives on commitments and so on. But it’s almost at the point that people can’t call out someone if they are BS and just using it as an excuse, the ultimate trump card. It’s nothing you can show proof of if it’s real or not (most of the time people are just lazy and just want to stay locked up at home)
I’m sorry, I can’t come into work today or I can’t fulfilled my commitments due to my mental health. I need some personal time….. wtf

This is what happens when you let women hold positions of authority. Back in the day real men worked till they dropped then went home and blew their head off with a shotgun.

Don't get me started on "bipolar disorder"

Real American Men (TM): From Edgar Allen Poe to Hemingway to Cobain.

In my experiences, when "mental health" is a real issue there is no doubt. If you have ever dealt with someone who legitimately struggles with a mental illness, you know when it is real.

This is why God invented beer, garages, shitty cars that need to be worked on, and Craftsman wrenches.

Unless you’re Ben Simmons. He’s fricked up the mental health excuse.

The entire mental health industry is a scam.

A) Some people have real mental health issues (Psychosis, Schiz, etc..) - These people need medication and continuous therapy or check-ins with a Dr.
B) Some people just want to wallow in depression and shirk any responsibility/duty in life.
People can get in a rut and be depressed. That's life. You gotta step out your front door and keep going.

Clearly you have never dealt with someone literally crazy. Crime is down from the 80s and 90s when no one gave a shite about anyone's well being.

There’s some speculation that Poe’s death was some form of suicide. Hard to verify in that all primary documents from his death were lost.

A lot of mental health issues could be fixed with exercise and eating good foods. Also could be fixed with making sure hormone levels are balanced before throwing people on SSRI’s and other anti-depressants.
We have a society that is over medicated. I always get a chuckle when people think they would last during an apocalypse. All the folks that couldn’t suck down their pain meds and Xanax wouldn’t last more than a day

Social Security Dual Diagnosis: fake it enough to get a *single* inpatient psych stay and your set for life leaching off the taxpayers tit.

I mean some sure but I think it’s more of America is just finally acknowledging a lot of it as well as people being overly dependent on pills and shite thanks to big pharma pushing them so hard. I’ve personally seen two good friends on the edge and it’s not a fun sight both are better now but it’ll change your mindset when you truly see a suicidal person trying their hardest to end it

It's easy to dismiss something when you don't personally experience it.

If boomers weren't such assholes we would take them fishing on our mental health days.
Work-life balance is real and if employees are having to lie to get off they are going to use whatever is convenient at the time.

I’m starting to think so. Yeah, there are a lot of people who have some shite that really hinders their life, but some people that I see say that they “need to work on their mental health” are just being soft. You’re going through a hard time; we all do. But that’s not a reason to back out of anything. Some people just don’t know how to push through.
