I’m with you. Hahnville (my alma mater) has to go up to Benton (north of Shreveport) because of the DLS forfeits. Otherwise, they’d be hosting a game in the first round…..of course, had they beat ESJ instead of losing 8-3 they’d be hosting.

Looks like my alma mater gets to play a Manning yet again.
I think we are 0 for life against that family but have beaten Newman at least 1-2 times since Eli left, at least one of which was en route to a semifinals appearance.

Most interesting matchup in 5A round 1 for me is #13 Woodlawn-BR hosting #20 Natchitoches Central. Woodlawn is 5-4 with wins in 4 of their last 5 games including an upset of Catholic. NC is 7-3 but lost 3 of their last 4 (all vs playoff teams).

Good team but it hurts that the top 4 of the select bracket are the top 5 of the overall 2A bracket.
They can win it all but they have to go through the creme de la creme to do it barring a massive upset somewhere.

Agree. If they do what they need to, there’s no reason they can’t win the first round. LCA is more of a challenge.

Woodlawn will win going away imo. They lost to Zachary by a touchdown, Uhigh by 20, EA by 6, and at WM 27-0. NC played a bunch of Shreveport area teams. I like Woodlawn here.

True….but NC’s district includes 5 other playoff teams. The beginning of the season WAS front-loaded with some shitty opponents, and they got to 6-0 by facing opposition with combined records of 15-45. But, in that stretch was a win over Byrd which was their only loss this season. It does appear that Woodlawn should win, but can the NC team that played Byrd show up and make this a game?
