Still paper championships with having wayyyy too many divisions. LA is not the size of Texas, it’s absurd and nothing is gonna change that.

How is Lakeshore the #10 seed at 5-4?

Frick the LHSAA...

This is from a Rummel grad...

Why? Because Catholic is better than BM at recruiting?

Agree. I understand public schools not wanting to mix with private, but there has got to be another way to re-classify or create cure fewer classifications. Nine state championship games is absurd. Even more ridiculous to have 4 state champs in select, when only 51 teams are in the playoffs across all four divisions!

I think it worked so much better before we told teams they couldn't play up and that led to the split. Just go back to those rules. Have 5 classes (for football)

It’s all about the math. Lakeshore got slight bumps from playing two 5-A schools (even winning 1 game) and their losses all came vs teams with decent W/L records. Then their wins included 7-2 Salmen and 6-2 Bogalusa. And all of their other wins were against teams with at least 4 wins….that helps a lot. Most other schools had an opponent or two with 0, 1 or 2 wins. Who you play and how good they are significantly impacts your power rating.

Leesville is 2 places behind them at #12. They also got bumps from playing two 5A teams (both losses) but they played two winless teams, a 2-7 team and two 3-7 teams. Sure, their record looks better but it seems they played inferior competition.

I took a look at the final 4A power rankings and saw that most of the teams ranked behind Lakeshore have 4+ losses as well. I guess I just underestimated the parity in 4A.

There’s definitely a good bit of that this season. Seems like in most classes there are a couple of standouts and then a big mass of teams in that 4-6 to 7-3 range.

Lakeshore’s opponents were 49-29, a 63% winning percentage.

Leesville’s opponents were 32-57, a 36% winning percentage.

Honestly, this is a pretty good illustration of why I like the power ratings system. You can no longer play a bunch of garbage non-district opponents and expect to be rewarded come playoff time.

they could have had an even better power rating if we were able to play in week 2

Only if y’all played and they won. They replaced y’all with Slidell and won that game which resulted in a PR of 16.44 for the game. Had they played Chalmette in week 2 instead and lost, that game would have been a 10.89 everything else being equal. A win over Chalmette instead of Slidell would have been worth 19.78.

Does it really matter if they're gonna get destroyed in 2nd rd by Destrehan?

I say we just get Hahnville, Chalmette, Benton and Haughton together to switch the away teams. Hahnville goes to Chalmette and Haughton to Benton. Everyone’s happier!

Anyone know anything about Lafayette? My Green Wave is getting them in the first round. Looks like we have a pretty decent draw. If the we win and the higher seed wins we would face John Ehret in the 2nd, then Central in the 3rd round and then Captain Shreve to go to the Dome but I really don't expect us to make it that far.

9) West Monroe
24) Northshore

8) Chalmette
25) Haughton

Matching up WM-Haughton and Northshore-Chalmette would also work, and their seedlings are much closer. I’m sure there’s similar matchups across all the brackets that could make travel much easier with very minor adjustments to the seeds.
