Sat yesterday afternoon. Saw 8 total. Unfortunately stayed between 55-75 yards and I’m not comfortable shooting my crossbow that far.

Also had a new experience. Fox ran up on me and he saw me move. Stayed behind me for 5 or so minutes running a half circle barking at me

Missed a doe on Friday evening. Shot a small sow Saturday evening. Cooking her shoulders down right now. Sous vide the hindquarters then finished on the grill.

Eta: pisses me off that I get so shook up on a 100 lb doe that I miss at 17 yards but a 30 or 40 lb pig gets drilled at 40

Went to Sherburne to catch a few ditch pickles before the cold front came through. Quite a few dinks, but enough keeper size to make a meal. They seemed to all be in the thickest wood piles, and I’m surprised I landed as many as I did. I lost a couple nice ones in the brush.

ETA: My better half is currently making a broccoli soup with some broccoli that came out of our garden.

Lil Bama? Looks like a damn good day for Sherburne. I've never had much luck there this late.

I cranked my boat today and it made me want to go catch a few bass

Yessir. I caught a couple on topwater early in the morning, but that bite went away quickly. Then it took me a while to find them after that. Had to cover a lot of water.

Saturday was opener here in MN. We only get 9 days to hunt with a firearm so I took my covid having arse out and gave it a go. Ended up shooting my biggest buck to date. Rattled him in too. That’s something I’ve never seen work anywhere but on TV, so that was cool. He’s a 14 with a drop. He’s taxidermist bound!

First weekend with the whole family at the camp in a while and first trip for my 2 year old daughter and we had a blast. My wife killed a doe with her crossbow. Weather was beautiful. All good, aside from some rough football outcomes all weekend.

Had to grill a piece of that fresh backstrap tonight. I've been thinking about it since she texted me and said "got one".

Opening big duck weekend in TX. All groups punched Saturday and Sunday. Teal and spoonies.

Made a Sandhill Crane chili on Saturday for the game. The cooler weather was a nice touch.

Setting goose spread now on a feed and fog is building. Could get interesting.

Hit the Rigolets Sunday. 30-40 trout with 18 keepers and one bass. Water was moving but somewhat cloudy.
