GSP free to a good home(kidding kind of)

My four year old male managed to get on the table and eat two sausage biscuits in the time it took me to walk from the kitchen table to the refrigerator.
We were just out in the field setting up blinds for geese. I guess he was pissed we didn’t take anything this morning

Four year old and he doesn't know not to eat shite off the table. A pet is as smart as it's owner. My cat knows better than that. Hope he's a good retriever?

He would outrun and out hunt any mutt you trot out there I can promise you. He’s picked up quite a few bad habits from my young children that find it hilarious when he misbehaves. Their laughter more than outweighs any temporary frustration I may have with the dog. He’s all business in the field.

There is a difference in a pet knowing what it is allowed and weighing the consequences of deciding to break the rules and taking the punishment to get the short term gain. I have seen this multiple times with shorthairs

They’re highly intelligent animals that absolutely do this. Mine is also a pet to our kids, so he gets encouragement at times to break the rules because they think it’s funny. I guess I should spank them all

I was at my parents one night with my Boxer
My brother had taken out a leftover steak to heat up & left the kitchen for something
Walked back in to find their elderly rat terrier eating it
We can only figure she convinced my boxer to get it for her since there was no way she could reach it on her own

I would love to tell you it gets better, but my 11 year old can still be a rascal at times. He can't hunt like he used to, but still wants to. I take him on duck hunts when I'm alone. He will go for a couple retrieves, and he's done for a while.

I had a rescue lab mix, who was 98% lab, that wouldn’t really mess with my food and wasn’t very sneaky like that. Until the day I came home for lunch real quick. Fixed a sandwich, sat in my recliner using the footrest as the table. Took one bite and my phone started ringing on the counter, jumped up to grab it, stopped ringing by the time I got to it. I turned back around to sit down and the whole sandwich was gone. She was so smooth and quick that she had me thinking I didn’t even fix a sandwich and was out of my mind. Never saw her get near it, nor did I see her eating it or even licking her lips like she just had a good snack. Smoothest thing ever. Lost her in February, one of the best/sweetest dogs I’ve had.

My kid was cooking biscuits one morning. I came inside from working out and saw the empty pan. I asked where the biscuits were. She said on the pan waiting to go into the oven. My GSP ate 8 raw biscuits off the table. GSPs are just as bad as Labrador’s when it comes to food!

BoBo, as mine is called by my kids, was on the table looking at me with this sort of it was worth it look knowing he was about to get tossed outside

Enjoy him while you can! My 13 year old GSP doesn’t have much longer. Sleeps in my little boy’s room every night. Gonna be some rough months ahead.

When we were kids my parents had fixed some taquitos and left them on the counter to cool off. For some reason no one was around for a little while and we get back to the kitchen and our lab had knocked the tray down and there were half eaten taquitos everywhere and he was laid out like a junky. Still laugh about it to this day.
