The more I think about Aranda

I hope he’s the one. He’s not as flashy as a Riley type but he’ll bring consistency and disciplined football. He’s smart enough to trust his hires and he’ll recruit athletes that are going to play smart and hard

I’m down with Aranda.
If it is him, it’ll be important IMO to see what his first 2 full-year recruiting classes come in at. (He’ll get a pass for the first class obviously).
If he gets one or both of those classes in the consensus Top10, we’re good. If both fall outside the Top10, red flags imo.
Gottta be able to pull in Top10 classes, preferably Top5, if you truly want to compete for titles.
Florida is a great example of what you can get when you assume recruiting will be fine and the program will recruit itself even if the coach isn’t known as a great recruiter. To be clear, I’m not asserting Aranda isn’t a great recruiter, just something to certainly keep a close eye on with him if he’s the hire.

With every passing day since the NC I feel that Dave kept the program from going tits up from 2017 on.

Aranda is emerging as the most likely hire from everything I’m seeing.

I agree with this.
My main concern with Aranda is we haven’t seen what Baylor looks like with his players yet. It’s still Rhule’s. But you gotta take a risk sometimes.

He has been my number one since he left to Baylor. And his stock continues to rise at Baylor.
He will recruit fine and more importantly bring stability and respect back to the program. We know what we will get from him, he kept the ship afloat while the Capt was trying to sink it.

might not be his players but it's his philosophy and they play for him...his def staff will be solid just wondering who he would get for oc

Also down w/ Aranda.
I'd be interested who he picks for DC/OC though..
Recruiting is very important as mentioned; have to keep up with Georgia and Alabama.

Amanda is my pick as well.
He knows the program and the culture. That’s a huge benefit coming in where a rebuild is needed.

Right but identifying and developing players is a huge part of coaching college. O could recruit like a mofo but couldn’t develop or keep most players.

But how do you rebuild when you’ve already been in it? If they want an interjection of new ideas and a clean slate, Aranda isn’t the guy.
I’ve heard as of yesterday evening that Aranda and Napier are the two guys that have been singled out. It comes down to whether or not they want to throw out the current LSU culture/model or not.

Aranda would hopefully bring Grimes with him for OC. I didn't like Grimes much as an OL coach, but he's turned into a much better playcaller than I thought he'd be.

He’d bring Meatball and Vic Valoria too among others. This discussions have already happened.

I could definitely see us being happy with an Aranda hire. It would definitely be a positive change in how the program is viewed - would finally be about X's and O's and fundamentals on the field versus personality off of it. He's also just really interesting to listen to talking ball.
In terms of success, it is a risk. The fact is in this league, if you aren't recruiting top 5 talent you are going to be behind if your goal is to be in the conversation every year. That is a big question mark for him.

Are you joking?

You don't think Aranda will bring new ideas to a program run by a sub-85 IQ coach? Who has had 2 years to build the D in his own image, aka, destroying everything Aranda did?

I'm hoping for Aranda or Rhule. Defensive minded guys, but Rhule has had some OC experience also.
We know Rhule can build a program and it is starting to look like Aranda can also. I will be watching the Baylor/OU game with great interest next week.

No, you don’t. LSU should not be taking risks, we should be hiring proven recruiters and winners.

Keeping players IS recruiting these days with the Transfer Portal. Aranda had Ika follow him for a reason. Look at the defensive classes from ‘16-19 they were stacked. I realize it wasn’t all Aranda, but it wasn’t all O either.
Bring stability to the program and good things will come.

Rmnldr, why do you say that? Is it a case of striking out on the big fish/ not wanting to wait til after playoffs and Aranda’s the highest tier 2 candidate, or do you feel Scott saw Aranda up close and thinks he’s the reason we won in 2019?

But most of those dudes—if not all of them—don’t want to uproot and leave where they’re currently at. Especially if they’re recruiting and winning already.
