Les was recruiting circles around Orgeron when it came to building roster depth. Take a look at 2010 when this was our LB room: Kelvin Sheppard Perry Riley Harry Coleman Kevin Minter Lamin Barrow Keke Mingo Jacob Cutrera Tahj Jones
Bingo.
Nearly all of those guys ended up in the league (even if some were just squad guys). Sheppard, Riley, Minter and Mingo played for a long time.
Our best LB is just now starting to play good football in the last half of his senior year.
This cannot be stated enough…either O’s talent evaluation has been horrendous or player development has. Our guys might be talented athletes but they are not good football players like we used to have.

Is Cooper supposed to be good? What am I missing

Is there a reason that they never see the field? Or is it that 0 whiffed on a player again?
White was Aranda's guy. IDK about Sampah but I'd figure Aranda had the most say on LBs.

It would be aranda missing. They are better suited to a 3-4. On top of that you only play 2 linebackers and clark and baskerville are the upperclassmen.

LOL we 6 kickers on the roster in 2015 and 11 LB's. Only 3 maybe 4 of those LB were actually quality (Deion, Beckwith, Duke and Donnie Alexander).WTF would any team in CFB need 6 kickers. Miles wasn't great at roster management either.

Miles’ players seemed to stay out of the tub.

So while it is certainly O's fault, I wouldn't consider them "his" players.
Was Aranda the head coach? I must have missed that.

Dude had/has no idea how to manage an Aranda defense

How about Phillip Webb? Should be in this conversation as well.

PFF grades are far from the end all be all. PFF said that Mike Jones was a top 3 transfer in the country and a preseason all American. Also again Cooper is a Redshirt Freshman and was an in state kid and is more productive on a better team than all the guys we took over him.

They tell us that all the time, but I tied my shoelaces all by myself today, so jokes on them.
Just kidding, they’re velcro, but they’re on the correct feet.

They are backups and they have seen the field. Hell, even Penn has seen the field.

I think the lesson to be learned here is that Louisiana has a lot more talent than most places. You look at linebackers from Louisiana who weren’t as highly ranked in this class doing great at Texas A&M, Arkansas, & Mississippi State. Meanwhile we’re fishing for big fish across the nation when we have better players in our own backyard. When will people learn that Louisiana is a talent pool full of studs, whether their rankings say it or not.

At the same time, we took a bunch of Louisiana guys who flaked out, weren’t SEC caliber, and quit too. That 2018 class has a ton of them.
