The vote for the proposed Slidell casino is December 11th and I’m curious what everyone thinks about it. I ended up on the Stand Up St. Tammany email list through work and they are obviously working hard to oppose it. Here is a WDSU article about the study they did and Stand Up’s response.

I like how the commercials make it out to be a real high end classy place. LOL

I don't mind it as long as it isn't just some shitty Silver Slipper knock off and will actually have table games and sports book.

The evangelicals are a hard no on this issue though, and they're the ones that got video poker taken out in the 90s because even though they scream "FREEDOM!" they're all about legislating what other people can do with their lives even though its legal elsewhere. I was kinda shocked the sports gambling passed in the parish TBH.

I can’t imagine it being an overly classy place but I can see the benefit with having the sportsbooks and table games like you said.

The old Mandeville/Madisonville/Covington people have shot down every attempt at trying to bring any sort of entertainment venue to the St. Tammany Lakefront areas and I think they will succeed again. Something will eventually pass though and it will be interesting what it is.

Great idea to put a mediocre casino smack dab in between Nola and Gulfport/Biloxi. It is sure to be a favored destination by residents of Bogalusa, Lacombe and Pearl River.

What does that even mean?

I mean, when a normal person says it.

Assuming normal people do.

Don’t really care about anything going in Slidell, BUT I do not want to open any doors for such developments in other parts of parish. So I’m voting no for that reason.

This is where I’m at too. I absolutely do not want anything of this type on the lakefront in west St. Tammany, but if it passes for a development in Slidell, it’s not the end of the world.

I’ll be voting against it. The main reason is because if it’s passed, then they can theoretically build a casino in any part of the parish and they are eyeing the Mandeville lakefront.

I'm in Mandeville....don't care at all what they do in Slidell. Good for them.

There are people who have lived here for years and have never been to Slidell.

I love these freedom loving Republicans voting no on someone being allowed to open a business and create jobs.

Seriously if you are in Mandeville or Covington, why do you have a say what businesses operate in Slidell. If you don’t like that they have a casino then don’t go there. Pretty simple from my perspective

I saw a guy on one of my fishing groups say he wanted the casino so Slidell wouldn't be the armpit of St. Tammany anymore.

I can't think of anything that makes somewhere more of an armpit of St. Tammany than a place that thinks a casino will change that.

Can't wait for that same dipshit to complain that fishing in the area turned to shite.

I’m fine for a casino being in Slidell. I don’t even realize Slidell is St. Tammany

Now, if voting to allow a casino in Slidell means one can come to Mandeville, that’s a big fat nope
