As long as he is not doing so from a blind “ someone has this record and was fired one time” type evaluation

Depends on who and what kind of trajectory they are on. Hopefully our AD does more than look at career win %.

I never said don't look at the past, but don't just look at career win %. I'm hoping Woodward takes a holistic approach.

I usually enjoy you as a poster, but you're being intentionally obtuse here.

Welp, it won't be Les Miles. He left LSU at a .725 career record (140-53), and even following the Kansas debacle, he has a career record of 145-73, .665 Win%.

Well that would be better than each of our last 4 coaches when they were hired here so maybe.

Y’all forget that LSU is a better job than most of these other places.

Yes. To say no would be to say it's impossible for a coach to improve. Lane Kiffin has improved. Or do we need another reminder of that?

Youre right, I am beating around the bush, so let me be clear:

Lane Kiffin has no business being in the discussion for this job IF Woodward is looking at everyone and anyone for the best candidate.

(If money is no object)
Lincoln Riley
Dabo Swinney

Billy Napier is then the fallback

Well we hired a previously fired coach with a winning percentage of 26% and thought we hit gold in 2016.

There’s no way you can say Napier is a clear cut better choice than Lane

really? so kiffin has proven he can put back to back good years together?

he couldnt at USC, FAU and now at OM he hasnt yet and without corral....they will fall right back to his mean of 7-8 wins max

Winning % of the last 3 head coaches hired by LSU at the time of said hire:

Nick Saban - 61.4%
Les Miles - 57.1%
Ed - 37.2%

So a 65% winning % would be an improvement

I don't think that's as clear-cut as you and others make it out to be.

Napier has had more success than Kiffin at similar size schools (UL vs FIU)

Napier has a track record of stability and gets better each year, lane does not have that track record

Napier has proven he will not jump at the first job that looks better...Lane has proven many times that he's willing to do that

Also, There is no Billy Freshwater alia....Napier is boring that doesn't make him less qualified.

Eta - I haven't looked at their offenses and compared them but I bet you Napier's isnt far off comparing apples to apples

I don’t think it’s clear cut at all. I think they can both do well here and both have some bigger question marks than the top tier candidates.
