Sounds like you’re a born loser and a bitch.

If your Golden Era was mainly Les Miles and Ed Orgeron tenures then you’re selling yourself short lol

Herbie on Gameday was pumping us as a top 5 coaching job that any big time coach would be silly not to consider seriously. (Only school to win three BCS / CFP era Natties with three different coaches, two of whom would not be able to do so at any other school.) I don't think he was exaggerating or just getting ratings. I.e, the Golden Era is just beginning, MFr.

several years of mediocrity.

Those 10 win seasons really sucked. Be careful what you wish for is what I used to say to people saying we were mediocre when we won 10 games.

That team was legit one tackle away from beating bama and winning the west.

This is what I’m talking about. We’ve fallen much further than that in a quick span. The wrong hire can set us back even more.

You are probably one of those who thought it was all over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor.

LSU could be in contention within two years; we won a title two years ago.
With the right "White Whale" HC, OC, DC and Staff that can COACH and RECRUIT equally as well.

Current ULSU Staff full of used car salesmen that can recruit, but not effectively coach their position.

ETA: the “Golden era” to me would have been the run from 01-07. 2011 came after 3 somewhat disappointing Ho-hum seasons; 2018-19 came after several years of mediocrity.

No it ran for 13 years 2001-2013. Do you think maintaining 10 win seasons is easy?

In that 13 year span we had

3 national title appearances
2 national title wins
5 SEC title appearances
4 SEC title wins
4 division titles
7 top 8 finishes
9 10+ win seasons
6 11+ win seasons
9-4 bowl record

1. We just won a national championship two years ago with arguably the best team to ever step on a college football field.

2. The last three coaches at LSU have won a national championship and one of them was Ed fricking Orgeron....Not only that, but Orgeron was the coach for said team that is arguably the best ever. We know now he didn't have a ton to do with it, but either way, it happened.

3. It's not like we don't have the talent to win right now. We're just seeing what Ed truly is at this point when he can't hide behind generational talent, Dave Aranda, and Joe Brady.

4. I venture to guess that the next coach we hire, unless it's a complete frick up by Woodward, will be the 4th coach in a row to win a national championship at LSU. So, explain to me how that would be the end of the golden age?

as long as Woodward doesn't screw up the coaching hire AND he doesn't get killed in an aircraft accident/crash LSU will be fine...
