I've always wondered what it must have felt like for people to see Star Wars for the first time, or the Fellowship of the Ring, not knowing they were about to begin one of the greatest film trilogies of all time. (unfortunately I'm too young and missed both.)

Now I know.

I don't know if this will end up being a trilogy or not, but the first half of that movie is one of the greatest hour and a half I've ever seen in a theater.

Plz let the rest of the story be good.

I doubt they green light the sequels.
And I loved this new Dune

Villeneuve built a solid reality by mixing real world tech and jargon with the Herbert alien magic and mysticism. He dialed back the weirdness to the perfect level. Most directors would overdo it.

I thought you were going to say George really stold a lot of ideas from Frank. That is the first thing I thought of and I'm a huge Star Wars fan.

I just got finished watching it and thought it was really well done. Now it’s going to be hard to wait for the next one.

Dune is like an 11 on the nerd-scale. It's not for everyone. I never read the original books, but did see the 1st movie adaptation, with Kyle MacLachlan, Sting and Sean Young. Certainly interesting, fun to watch, but I felt lost on so much of the backstory.

Sounds like the true fans are praising this flick. Don't know why we'd get a good movie and not follow it up with 2 more. Maybe it'll do well enough to warrant sequels.

Man, that was so good. Possibly the most visually stunning movie I have ever seen. I knew nothing about Dune going in but I didnt have any trouble following the story, other than certain parts that were hard to understand what was being said. A rewatch on HBOmax with subtitles will help that out. Excellent movie, cant wait to watch it again.

I’m not going to read any further into this thread until Tuesday or Wednesday when I see it (busy with some things this weekend), but I’ll never forget watching Fellowship for the first time in theaters. I had read the Hobbit before but not Lord of the Rings, so I knew who Bilbo, Gandalf, and Gollum were and knew about the Ring of Invisibility. I had no idea Lord of the Rings was a trilogy (and it technically isn’t) and thought it was simply the sequel to The Hobbit. It blew my mind. I thought Mount Doom was across the Anduin and the movie would end there, and then when Frodo and Sam come over the ridge, see Mordor in the distance, I’m dumbfounded, and then the movie just ends… I was pissed for half a second before realizing this was a trilogy and there was much more to come. Read the entire Lord of the Rings before New Years that year. It was awesome.

Dune really needs a large scale TV project to really do it justice. Scifi did a decent low production budget version to the end of Children.

I'd like to see just a complete vision of Dune to God Emperor and just stop there one day.

Movie was amazing. I know I talked a lot of shite about watching it at home but I can see the appeal of wanting to see it in theaters.

With that being said, I would suggest this movie to anyone. I never read the books but I plan to know.
