Disclaimer: This does not necessarily mean you don’t like the band anymore, but more so that you aren’t nearly into them as much as you were at one time or enjoy them as much.

My band would have to be Guns N’ Roses. My freshman year of high school, my sister bought me Appetite for Destruction for my birthday and I was blown away. I was really into them for a few years afterwards, they were my favorite.

I don’t know if it’s because I played their music so much, but I can’t get into them like I used to. Also, Axl’s voice has gotten to where I don’t really care for it anymore.

So which bands have you outgrown?

Green Day. Not so much that I grew out of the stuff I listened to as a teenager, because I still listen to their 90s stuff sometimes. But their last decade or so has just been embarrassing. Doesn't interest me at all

Haha I didn't even know they were around. I liked them when I was like 12.

Here's the ones I've outgrown:

Red Hot Chili Peppers
Van Halen
Dave Matthews
Bon Jovi
Bad Company

Ministry. Maybe not so much that I’ve outgrown them as much as they have under grown themselves. Paul Barker was the heart of their music regardless of how much it is Al’s band.

These aren't bands that I've outgrown, as much as they are bands that I've just gotten tired of hearing over the years and can't see ever going out of my way to try to listen to them.

Pearl Jam(used to be my favorite band)
Eagles
Rolling Stones
Elton John
Queen
Van Halen

Nirvana. I loved this band when I was a teen, especially 8th grade, but quickly outgrew them. I think the lyrics just didn’t resonate.

Aerosmith. I was a big fan as a kid and teen, but really grew out of their stuff from Walk This Way forward. I still like 70’s Aerosmith, but they’re no longer one of my top 5 favorite bands.

Foo Fighters. I loved this band for a long time, but their catelog has gotten stale, and their last couple albums were complete trash.

Shinedown. They were at the peak of their popularity when I was a teen and just starting college. I even saw them live at Groovin’ on the Grounds. However, I think those songs were just over-exposed, snd I got tired of them. While in college, I kinda stopped listening to a lot of harder rock and metal bands and got more into 70’s funk, jazz, and jam bands. While a few years later, I started getting back into metal, but never really went back to Shinedown.

U2 and RHCP

Slipknot - they were all I listened to in middle school, last several albums are so cringey and Corey Taylor turned into a colossal douchebag

Bruh, I just saw them live a couple weeks ago, and that shite was dope AF. Life’s too short to spend it so cynical. Not everything needs to be tortured, gritty, and deep. Sometimes it’s fun to listen to catchy simple songs about love and sex wrapped in explosions and crazy costumes.

Life can be a funny thing. You may love a band when you are in High School and 10-15 years later feel you have moved on. But don't be surprised after another 10 years or so that you go back to those bands you loved in HS. I know I have returned to bands I didn't listen to for years. Even a few I know are kind of cheesy. At a certain age, I stopped caring if anyone else liked things I like. If it makes me happy in some way, even if that's just nostalgia, I'm ok with that.

Phish. I never recovered from Coventry and we’ve just moved in different directions.

Also, I had to finally admit that Guyute sucks. That was a growth experience. I told myself I liked it because I thought I was supposed to like it. Then one day I had to admit the truth. It’s not a good song. The “ugly pig” is a perfect metaphor.

I'd actually enjoy that. Not convinced itll happen, but great if so

Honestly, i just assume most middle aged white guys are in a pretty weird music spot in general. But could also be wrong as shite

I mean, if you grew up on classic r&r, metal, or grunge etc what have the last two decades given you besides a wretched outlook on music lol Youve listened to all masterpiece albums you grew up with a frickimg bazillion times now. Maybe you dust them off occasionally after some drinks or something. Idk

It feels like I MAYBE get 5 or 6 albums a year that I find somewhat interesting. A couple that might stand out

RHCP - just got boring and vocals are aggravating

Blink 182 - I'll still listen occasionally but it doesn't have the fun/experience compared to when you're 13

Shinedown - they've actually made some decent stuff since getting super popular but their older albums were just better

Breaking Benjamin - more albums they come out with the more it all sounds the same

Kings of Leon is probably my answer. White stripes to an extent

My favorite bands in college, rarely listen these days.
