Expired inspection sticker

2008 Silverado inspection sticker expires the end of October. Have taken to shop on 4 occasions. Changed oxygen sensors and throttle body. Check engine light keeps coming back on.
Is there a grace period or last day of the month is it? I guess I need to take to the dealer but they can't schedule it for 3 more weeks.
Another stupid question.....I know the ticket is about $125 but will they impound it as well or just the ticket?

I ran around for 2 years with expired tag and registration. Eventually Barney stopped me andi had to pay 340 bones.

peel it off and go about your business.
I haven't replaced an inspection sticker on a vehicle in 15+ years.

I’ve never had anyone look at my check engine light.

30 day grace
No impound
They look and setup spots to pull you over for these stupid stickers so get it renewed.

They sell brake tags on street corners in the hood. I heard.

The same guy selling fake vaccine cards is probably selling break tags. Tire Kingdom on ESSEN ( by the RR tracks) will give you a fair inspection, they aren't out to make money off inspection stickers. Used to take cash only, though, so call. Stay far far away from Benny's Car Wash, it's a scam.

I’m not aware that your Check Engine light would cause anybody to not give you a new sticker.
Where I go, the only thing that would prevent me from getting one is lack of $10.

plug in OBII tool and erase codes, drive straight to brake tag location and get a brake tag.
it will take at or about 100 miles for the CEL to come back on
FYI - the most common cause for CEL on those trucks is a bad seal on the gas cap, a new genuine GM gas cap fixes it 90% of the time but the CEL still needs a OBII tool to clear the code

Find a shop that will put a sticker without the test.

I didn’t know people worried about grace periods with inspection stickers

That doesn’t work if the OP is in a Parish where they test omissions. It has to be “smog ready”.

Unhook that battery dawg. Let that computer reset

You in the Baton Rouge area? If so, bring to AgCo Automotive - they will diagnosis the problem and fix it - they are not part changers. You can bring it to be inspected, get a “failed” sticker but then you won’t get a ticket if stopped and you have a grace period of a month? to have the problem repaired.

30 day grace period and as long as you have insurance they won’t impound it. Hell, even if you don’t have insurance they probably won’t impound it.

Disconnect the negative terminal in the battery, wait a few, then reconnect. Immediately haul arse to the inspection place and get it ok’d.

Where, they don't check that in NOLA, or at least where I go.

50 bucks on Amazon….delete code, get sticker, repeat next year

Are freaking serious with these questions?
You are changing these things because of a check engine light?
Dude one shop rejects on a sticker just move on to the next shop.
